upstairs family room furniture help
Comments (0)Hello moving into a home soon. Attached is the upstairs family room...furniture belongs to the current owners. I’m thinking about getting dark brown leather for this room however my husband suggesting gray to match the walls. I really don’t want the gray on gray. Need help/suggestions on furniture color and the set up of the room. Thanks!...See MoreFamily Room Furniture Failure--Help with arrangement (very long note)
Comments (39)Move round table toward wall for now so you have a pathway to slider door. Not sure what the person you had helping was thinking but we ALWAYS map out walkways and “transportation” around and between rooms. The basic furniture is too large for your space but this is probably best arrangement for now. At some point, I would put chairs in a media room or game room. Two smaller scale swivel chairs in a complimentary fabric would improve everything. A “gate leg” table behind sofa would serve dual purpose. When leaf is raised 3 could eat a meal. When lowered it would act as a sofa table....See MoreFamily room furniture layout help
Comments (1)You are well on your way. I really like option number two, the green floorplan. I would only add an extra end table on the other side of the couch directly facing the fireplace, turn the dining table so that it is perpendicular to the sliding doors (if there is room) and go with a island that is not curved. But that floor plan makes great use of the space. Opt for long horizontal floating shelves over a cabinet by your dining are as pictured in the other floor plans for a more contemporary/modern look if that is what you are going for....See Moreliving room/family room furniture help
Comments (4)A much larger rug that goes under the front legs of your chairs would be great, plus it wouldn't move around. Floor or table lamps make a seating area more welcoming. You could use a large low coffee table. You have room over the fireplace for a bold artwork - remove all the little ornaments. You have wall space for a wide tv console, with doors for concealed storage. I'd keep those pillows for holiday display, and have something more elegant for day to day....See MoreJan Grath
