How to install shower grab bar where blocking is misplaced

jbmacc
last year

Our contractor couldn't find the blocking when they went to install the horizontal grab bar in the shower.

It was supposed to go on a 31-1/2" long, 56" high pony wall between the toilet and shower. The toilet side has one at ~30". The attached picture is from before they closed the wall; the wall where the grab bar is supposed to go seems to have the top blocking a little higher than it should be for the shower grab bar to be at the nominal 36", based on where the toilet grab bar actually was installed presumably using the lower blocking. But I'm not sure from the picture.

Any suggestions to solve this issue? Do we have to open up the toilet side of the wall to install/find the blocking? Is there a way to install the shower grab bar without finding/using the blocking?
