OT-My rhododendron has sported? Or is it a rootstock sucker?

I am posting this here because I could not find the rhododendron discussion (Houzz is SO annoying). Anyway, the dark pink one is a modern one I planted 15-20 years ago. Took pic yesterday. I also planted a yellow one next to it at the same time, but it dwindled away to nothing within a couple of years

This Spring suddenly there are white blooms where I planted the yellow one years ago (the white blooms emerged from lovely pink buds). Mildly curious - any thoughts about whether the white blooms might be from rootstock, or a sport? The soil there is MUCH too wet and saturated for me to climb back there and investigate exactly where the white one is rooted, or attached to the other one - I will do that when things dry out a bit. Anyway, I like the white blooms, as long as it is not a sucker which will take over the pink plant.
