We did camera at the front/rear door entrance which turn on with motion/doorbell ringing. I have attic access to the sides of our house so I will run wire for cameras on each corner of the house and one for the little one's room as well. Cameras for indoors aren't bad and not that expensive to get a good image. You can pay decent money for a camera that you can see images on but if you want a camera that is detailed and per say can identify a burglar or what not they are very expensive and you will pay dearly. Exterior cameras are awhole different ball game and the high end cameras are definitely not be in the $1,600 price quote received. Hope that helps!

Yosemitebill, Dang Yosemite, the search function on this site either sucks or my way of searching sucks. Anyhow, I've been trying to see what your take is on LCD vs Plasma tv's. I promised my family I would buy a 50 or 55 inch tv for the family room wall. I was looking at the LED/LCD from what I had been reading here and listening to peoples opinions. Is there any way I could get you to change your stance on not getting involved in the debate. An opinion from a real professional would really help me out!!! I'm sure the thing would get turned on and stay on for a lot of the day on weekends. During the week, it would probably only get turned on in the evenings for a few hours. I'm looking for the best type to hold up under those conditions. None of us are too picky about having the feeling of "being there" we just want a good picture on a tv that would last awhile. One of us will be watching cartoons, 2 teens will be watching a variety of stuff, rock concerts I'm sure will be in that mix. The rest of us are into History, Nat Geo, Documentaries, Sci-Fi, Shootem/cussem-up movies, and infrequently, some varying types of high profile sports. pleeeease????

We installed systems in half of the last six places we've lived. All six had multiple keypads. Find out if your company offers more than one included with the installation or how much more to add an additional one if you have to pay. If you have to pay, then you may have other options such as a portable key pad (very handy with full keystrokes, particularly emergency use poolside or placed on your bedside nightstand) or key fobs with just an on and off button (which have the disadvantage that anyone can use them as no code is required) or simply another wall-mounted pad which often are placed in the master bedroom but could be mounted anywhere convenient. To answer you question, one closest to the most frequently used door is helpful as in reduces the length of time needed to (de)activate the system, but it really depends on how you'll use the system and how many floors/ how large your house is. We currently have 3 levels, 4 keypads (3 on the main level front door, garage and master bdrm and 1 in the basement) and 2 fobs. Since we rarely go downstairs I find it helpful to usually keep the alarm always activated and by-pass the front and garage doors while home and may by-pass other windows or doors on occasion when the weather is wonderful. You may also check into adding wireless transmitters on garage windows and pedestrian doors or anyplace that your home may not be pre-wired but poses a concern.

But, if you had a centralized dvr or hub, you could use that (assuming it's connected to your mifi) to send alerts without connecting the cameras to the internet. Again, i don't know how well they'll work connecting to your cameras remotely from a MiFi.
