Comments (19)olychick, thank you for taking a look. :) I'm relieved to hear you think a white shower pan is best. I am heading out now to find porcelain marble look tiles for the shower walls to pick up the gray as you suggested. I want a shiny finish to the walls. Tell me if you think that's a misstep. I am avoiding marble as I have a marble topped vanity now that is pock marked with etchings. As far as seeing myself in the vanity, yes, I think I will be able to do so. I was planning on a black framed mirror spanning the vanity. My current vanity is 32 1/4" high (as will be the new vanity) and when seated on my vanity stool my reflection is seen up to my chest. The only issue currently is that my knees are pressed against drawers. I failed to mention that I was thinking of using absolute black granite for the vanity top for two reasons: one being cost and the other being to avoid etching. Will doing so deviate too much from my inspiration? Lastly, I had the idea of applying pieces of beveled mirror framed by black molding floor to ceiling along the back wall and continuing behind the toilet (similar to this only floor to ceiling with the exception of base molding & crown): [Traditional Bathroom[(https://www.houzz.com/photos/traditional-bathroom-ideas-phbr1-bp~t_712~s_2107) by Northbrook Architects & Building Designers Michael A. Comments (1)Looking for ideas on decent quality, reasonably priced bathroom vanities. We're renovating and adding on, so I have to pick fixtures for 2 gutted full baths and 1 newly framed master bath. I need a 72" size for the master, 42" for the upstairs hall bath, and I'm still thinking about the downstairs full bath - the architect drew a 48" vanity in the plans but I'm thinking it might be a better use of space to put in a storage tower and a 30" vanity or even pedestal sink. I've just ordered all the tile and am about to pull the trigger on the plumbing. Contractor referred us to Fergusons, but I haven't found them super helpful in terms of advice. (Covid also makes it hard to get an appointment.) Brands referenced so far are James Martin, Bertch, and Strasser. Pros/cons of any of these? Are any of the brands I see on the various websites trustworthy (Ariel, Avanity)? We redid our kitchen a few years ago and used Diamond cabinets - not high-end but they have held up very well in a heavily trafficked space. Is there a bathroom vanity equivalent? Should I ditch Fergusons and go to an actual kitchen/bath cabinet shop?...See Morehelp with new bathroom accessories
Comments (18)@Maggie Warren You could have both! If those are the colors you love, do you have them elsewhere in your home? Blue and orange make a complementary color scheme that can be really stunning. You want turquise, which has a little green in it, so your orange would be a red orange rather than a yellow orange. Then it's a matter of light/dark, dull bright in this room and the others. I have seen pictures in Houzz of rooms with dark red-orange walls that make the neighboring wood look like it's on fire. It's so beautiful! And I don't even like orange! Let me see if I can find a picture… Ok, see what I mean? You could add a touch of turquoise in these easily. But what do you think? Maybe the white wouldn't go as well and you might want those dark shelves after all. Not that white would be bad, but dark would be oh so much better and fun. Sorry if you've moved on… I just was trying to help you explore daring ideas since you already have the mirror and light fixture you were originally posting about. Are you up to dark fiery orange walls? Or are you settled with your paint too? Are you done with this post? Or is there anything else?...See Morebtydrvn
