We are in the process of painting our house with SW Copen Blue. Keep going? Or should we go back to a neutral color?

threeapples--You are definitely getting hit with alot of decisions all at the same time! The dune is pretty, but colors tend to go out of style. Are you ready to commit to that color tub for the next 5,10,15,20+ years? Let me ask you this...If you were buying a house instead of building one, would you be ok with a turquoise, rose, or yellow tub or would it be on list of things to replace? Would you buy a floor model tub in A-1 100% perfect condition from a plumbing showroom display in turquoise, rose or yellow today for this house? (I actually had that opportunity when I was making my selections--you'd be suprised what you can find in showrooms in small towns!) If your answer to either of these questions is no, then I say don't go with the dune--just stay with white. The white tiles + the white tub should give the bath a clean, simple, yet elegant feel. Or you could always use your tiles for that splash of color in the bath & go with something other than white. Just a thought--have you considered using "large subway tiles" or rectangular tiles set in a brick pattern in the kids' baths--bigger tiles means less grout for you to scrub. Just a thought...

The only brand my local Ye Olde Depot of the Homestead carried was Rustoleum, and their 'Marking' spray stated it was weather resistant. Then there was another variety that said it was 'supremely' weather resistant. Obsessively data-driven person I am, had to go find out what exactly they meant, and what sort of timespan I could expect... I'd be bummed if I climbed through all those thorns to have my work washed away with the next rain! Survey says, via a "manufacturer" answer to a question asked on the product page on HD's webpage, that the "Rust-Oleum Professional Marking Paint is anticipated to last up to 90 days" - sounds like a perfect solution to my situation, and much less permanent than my original plain-old-paint idea. I'll get some current photos and try to find some of the foliage and flowers, and start new thread(s) in hopes of getting help with more accurate identifications of what exactly it is I'm dealing with. Thanks everyone for your ideas! Now, the hard part... what color marking paint... Hmm.... ;)

North Iowa here.. What no one on this thread understands is there are no "green spaces" here. We have Habitat ReStore. We have Menard's or maybe Lowe's or Home Depot. Iowa people help each other all the time. Craig's list has junk. I did a kitchen gut 10+ years ago with Menard's hickory cabinets and laminate counters. No back splash. Existing Vinyl floor. Used my just fine white appliances. My house was built in 1880 so no open concept here. My kitchen is a room. A small room by comparison to almost all kitchens on here. I had a handyman who worked cheap. I had known him for at least 30 years so when I left for work I knew he'd deal with whatever came along. He was gone when I got home and I did clean up. I also did the gutting of the old kitchen; dead mice in the light fixture but he warned me about the potential so I was prepared. Maybe I was very, very lucky but I got a great kitchen for $10,000. I don't know what inflation would do to that price today. Compared to what I started with I now have a palace. You are a long way from final plans and I think you will do just fine. It takes a lot of price comparison shopping to get there. And shopping on eBay and Menard's sales. Don't over look the consignment shops. If you do Menard's cabinets wait until they have the 11% off. If you visit the cabinet people there regularly and tweak your layout, you will find people you really like and who like you and they will tell you when the sales are coming up. You can also make your own laminate counters for cheap. I didn't do that 4 inch backsplash thing and even though I didn't do any other kind of backsplash, I'm glad I didn't add it. Right now I have wallpaper but I'm thinking I might tile some paneling that's cut to fit so that if I get tired of it I can pull it off and put something else there.

Diona, I know you're getting the place ready to sell, but I fear you're putting in work that will not make an appreciable difference in the sale of the house. Painting the brick, for example, could be a turn off to some buyers and it cannot easily be undone. If buyers don't like the current brick, they can always paint it themselves. That said, if you already have a realtor, pick her brain regarding the best improvements to the house. She should know what your market demands and can best advise you.

Hard to see your roof color and what does the front of the house look like? Front door finish, etc? Also, hopefully it doesn’t match an immediate neighbor otherwise it might work based on what’s shown so far.

It's a very nice colour in the area you show but would be interesting to see the front view of the house to really comment.

Hard to tell. Generally I don't love blue houses, but that is a nice color ... just not sure I like the "pink and blue" look you get with the pavers. The pavers are going to be hard to match up to most colors.

Yes, it’s hard to tell. What color is the roof? The front door? The garage door? The front walk (is it pinkish too?)

Generally I’m not fond of thin, watery colors.

Without seeing it among the other elements, it's hard to know if you should continue or not, but it looks really good where you have it so far.

Thank you for all the feedback. Here is a picture of the front of the house. This is also the original color as we have only painted the back. The roof is currently a light gray, but we are going to change it to a charcoal gray. We are going to paint the front door white. The front will look more colorful as we plant a lot of colorful flowers in the front. The pavers on the driveway and sidewalk are a gray color. They are different than the red brick around the pool. The neighbors homes are grays, yellow, beige, and brown. The trim and garage door will remain white and the body of the house will be copen blue.

I've never seen lattice-style trim used like that before. So cute!
