Recently we had a storm that broke two of our trellis off at ground level up rooted trees but NO damage to our 10x12 HFGH. This is the 4th season of growing plants from seeds in it and the panels show no sign of yellowing or deterioration. Only problem is with vent motor I have had trouble with electric vent motors being junk. I bought it from IGC.

On our way to the fire station earlier this morning, I saw one of our neighbors uncovering his tomato plants. He'd covered them with five-gallon and three-gallon buckets, and then laid big iron poles on top of the buckets so they wouldn't blow away. I still had all my tomato plants on the screened-in porches and the screens are still "wearing" their winter coverings of greenhouse plastic, so my plants didn't get beaten up by the wind. The pepper plants are still in the house on the light shelves and they have only been out twice for a little sunlight. Usually, I've got them hardened off by now, but the 10 consecutive days of wildfire here are really interfering with my gardening. The plants are going back outside in just a minute into the sunlight and wind if I can get them carried out before the fire pager goes off or before we have to leave to take food/drinks to the guys still out on the fireline. Someone else is doing the cooking today, so all I have to do is show up and help serve the meal. Today doesn't look good for planting because of the continued brushfire activity, but I have high hopes for tomorrow. My pepper plants won't go into the ground for a couple of weeks yet, or maybe 3 more weeks, because we have nights in the mid-40s in the forecast. Dawn

I never wash my down beds - that clumps the feathers ! I do hang them out in the winter to fluff them up ! Like the German story for children : Frau Holle :) I guess it is a preference :) but Germans never wash their down comforters ( they usually cost about 300 dollars and upward , depending on the feather fill ) I just got rid of some my mom used to have about 45 years old !
