Durable Siding/Cladding Advice for Mid-Atlantic Coastal Home on Budget
Comments (23)I'm in the NE. We found one installer through the Everlast website (a larger firm that specializes in siding and roofing); however, as with most projects (at least at our house), it's not straightforward and we needed the gutters taken down (and re-installed) and fascia replaced, etc. and this big firm was not willing to do those details. So I found a local, experienced GC who has done similar work (it installs similar to vinyl) who was willing to do it (as well as the other work needed) and so far, so good. He did contact and work with the Everlast rep. We initiated about a year ago and our job just came up in his list about 2 weeks ago to start. So in that time, he said he's heard of more interest in Everlast. I don't know what's considered "budget" or not; I do know we were having trouble finding painters willing to deal with all the issues our old siding was having (and our last paint job was $$$ IMHO), and this will alleviate our having to do a painting rodeo every 8 years (again, just what our house was needing). Will the woodpeckers still peck holes in it? dunno. I do know it's not going to blister, peel, warp or crack. Knock on wood. Everlast does have a board and batten profile; the GC has commented he likes that it is not bendy at all (like vinyl) and each plank/board interlocks and there is no flex, cannot pull it away from the wall at all. So not sure if that's helpful for winds, etc....See MoreExterior paint color scheme for Southeastern coastal 3 story home
Comments (6)I really like the color scheme in your post, and it fits the Beau Coast community from what I have seen on our last trip home. That being said, Nothing about this housing development is traditional Beaufort, NC or even the greater Eastern NC/outer banks in either scale of homes or colors. So, it is all up to your personal preference. Staying in the muted pastels will help you avoid needing to repaint as soon. The salt air is harsh....See MoreHelp with exterior paint colors to update "tall & skinny" coastal home
Comments (5)All great comments! Stone is mostly tans/beiges with hints of white and grey. We've done a light and a dark tan (current color), which could have "aged" the look of the old facade. I was thinking a grey tone would give an update. A balcony with additional lights would definitely improve the look but alas that costs more than our budget. Thank you for the spot-on pic as inspiration for some day. Our door is like that in the pic, except on the left side....See Moreexterior paint color help for Coastal home
Comments (21)dormom, did you see all of the paint colors I posted in my earlier comment? do you like the two behr colors on porch photo? (Watery and Blueprint) Take a look and see what you think. here are some others too How about either of these? For the white, use SW pure White, BM- decorators white or oxford white. Behr, just use their brightest white. In fact, when you get the paint can off the shelf, just have them add the squirts of white tint to the can and no other color. you could also get a color match in the Behr paint w/these BM or SW colors. they won't be exact, but they'll be close enough. I used Behr on my home Get their $3 sample pots first and try out the colors...See Morergal813
