Comments (150)Lol..Good one Al! Sounds like you have a batty of a problem...lol You could always move your plants aside and make room.ha I'm praying for an end to this miserable cold weather..How did the birds fare this year for you? Did they come back? I did mention something about your frogs, but now I forget.. I hope all is well and that the real frogs will be able to sing again soon..This winter is just killing me..I think I know what it's like to live in a cave now...I'm as white as a ghost. Hello Laura and Josh and every one else..Good to see you all surviving...I have not seen this cold for years...I am grateful my fish loaded pond did not freeze up..It almost did since I accidently shut the power off to the pond pump..It only too two days for the whole top to freeze over but luckily I noticed it and broke the top open so the fish could breath. I also notice that my ground in the garden must be frozen at least more than 6 inches deep! I hope my bulb and perrenials make it through this. Let's see, what else? I left all my potted plants in a dark area of my garden and they have been buried with snow since December..I hope they make it too by the time the thaw comes..Keeping my fingers crossed. What else? Since I have been couped up inside, I have painted ever single room in my home and added a three seasons porch..That explians my absence besides sickness.. The only saving grace this winter was my greehoused plants, especially my orchids and two bull frogs inside! I actually downloaded brid chirping and sounds along with relaxing sounds and play that with my eyes closes in the nice very humid warm greenhouse on sunny days in this weather..Sure takes the edge off! All the orchids have come to bloom and many others.. Laura..What a beautiful picture of that frog!!!!!!! It's so postcard looking. I love it and you know how I feel about frogs! Thanks for that. Good to see there is still a REAL need for you while you are home, right?lol I remember was he was just born and when you visited me...Seems like yesterday. Either that frog is so content, or just trying to stay warm. Josh, Let it rain and rain, right? You could use all the rain you can get.Horay for the peppers buddy! P.s..I talked to Jodik and she is ok..I am trying to get her back here...She's a gem and missed here. So's Jojo..She is ok too..Says hello. Hoping you all well and wamrth. MIke...See More*Gustav*
Comments (23)Kathy, we're in Mississippi on the Gulf. Biloxi/Gulfport area right off the beach. Harrison County.I hope your husband will be safe,I'll be thinking of you both. The DH is driving about, he just called a while ago to say the National Guard has been posted along Highway 90 and along Highway 49.After Katrina they laid out razor wire so no one would go south of the railroad tracks. Lots of out of town power company trucks already, the news online says expect 12 hours of storm. Katrina was 8 hours..so...WOW..they still have homes destroyed by Katrina marked with those big "x"s ( homes where they found dead bodies) and where is Jim Cantore?? where ever he is, we should all go the opposite direction! lol He was here the 28th for the Katrina anniversary...I hope he left town! Comments (19)We lost our power for like 2 days in the hot summer. I remember taking a lot of COLD baths to cool us off. That was miserable!! Girl I know you probably took an extra long hot shower today. Just one question though. Did you look like a prune when you got out?? LOL totally teasing of course!! The lake seems to be receding in some parts so this is a good thing. Here is another shot I took this afternoon. My southern charm scored me this shot. Tennessee state troopers are guarding this spot and if you haven't figured me out by my text yet well you will have no doubt after you here this to how I truly am. We drive down by the road closed signs and I roll down my window and yell out the window. "Can I get out and look at the water?" state trooper said "No" I asked "Even to take a picture" he shook his head then I asked "Can I hand you my camera and you take a shot for me?" While handing my camera out the window while cheesing a big huge smile. The state trooper laughed shook his head and motioned for me to come up there and said "just make it fast" smiling the entire time!! Hee Hee And here is the shot!! This is the river and I am standing on the top of the levee. The river normally is about 100 to 150 feet from the furthest utility pole on the right hand side. I was dumbfounded when I saw in person how close the water was to the top!! Now I know for sure why they are guarding this thing so tightly!!...See MoreFeeling very blessed this morning
Comments (14)Wow, I always thought you folks that are in locations prone to lots of tornados had dug cellars like in the Wizard of Oz . I find it so disconcerting that you don't even have basements. We are in a very heavy clay location ( clay around here is known as Appin Blue Clay ) which is very very very solid clay about a foot and a half down from ground level , yet all the homes here have basements . Cost more to build a home but at least it might offer some protection as we too get tornados to ( we are in what is known here as Tornado Alley. ) Today we are getting wind gusts up from the south of 90 km or 55 miles per hour. That's plenty thank you very much ! So glad we got that huge 90 ft dead Ash tree down a couple of weekends ago . It made a mess in my gardens but at least it won't make a mess of my house now ....See MoreNancy 6b
