Probably not. I use a remnant pieces of white cloth for 'snow' .--it's flat so everything sits on it nicely and the pond I have my dad cut out cardboard and covered it with foil. Close enough for us!

When I used to set up a village, I would cut out depressions in a sheet of styrofoam that were the shapes of the bases of the houses, then I would sprinkle baking soda over the surface and sometimes mound it up a little. As for a pond, I would use the shiny mylar sheets from Dept. 56. It's difficult to tell in this picture, but the sheets are shiny silver.

I do villages :) Not only Christmas, but also other builds through the year.

For a glitter ice pond, lay down a sheet of plastic first. Trust me. I have a shelf I do as ice pod and creek with glitter. Lay down the plastic, place your mirrors. If you have lamps on wire, you can plan to lay it under your mirrors to hide the wires before you start pouring glitter- make sure your mirrors have a little bit of feet on them. Pour down some of the glitter for base snow, hill up around the mirror edges. Place in your stuff- trees, lanterns, houses, benches... Detail pour your glitter to fill in gaps, make piles, ect. If you take a small brush, you can drag glitter out a bit to blend in the edge of your pond. Place your smalls- people and pets. After the holiday remove pieces in reverse order, shaking/brushing off glitter as much as glitter can be. Then take your plastic sheet and pour your snow back into the jar for next year.

I usually use snow blankets and a bag of white stuffing for most of my general snow detailing. The stuffing helps make drifts, fill the gap and smooths transitions between building bases and the blanket, and helps the uneveness of snow illusion better than just a flat blanket. Buffalo snow can be a fun add to help with snowdrifts and extra snow sparkle. I prefer the fine shred stuff. As a bonus, it can be dyed with food coloring. You can take some and dye it green for your Easter display if you want. There is also tiny snowflake glitter, but it's kind of pricy for a small jar of it.

I use a lot of foliage. Village pine trees, some with snow. Regular foliage for regular decorating that in miniature use becomes holly bushes, sparkling trees with red fruits, white iced or metallic iced stuff in the back to snow and sparkle it up a bit.

If you are into building more permanant and realistic edge around a mirror for a pond or to make snowdrifts, get Snow-Tex. It's fluffy in the jar, and dries solid. Snow-Tex

I put a snow sheet down as the base and make snow drifts with cotton and sprinkle glitter over all of it. I used to go through a lot of Tums and I started saving the cotton in the new bottles. They came in a 2-3" strip that can be stretched out width-wise. I mound the cotton to form drifts around the base of the houses and around trees. I bought white flannel sheets and the first time I dried them I hit the jackpot of pure white cotton in the lint trap. You can use large cotton balls but you have to stretch them out of their round shape and it takes time. I leave clear paths from house to house and to the pond for the snowmen to walk on. I pick up the whole thing in one piece and put it in a large plastic bag for next year.

I have a small mirror pond and a bridge. I laid plastic wrap from the bridge to the pond in the shape of a stream. I picked up some pebbles outside to lay in small groups along the stream. I drift cotton snow along the stream and around the pond.
