Try a contractor yard/stone yard.

The soil stays wet because there is too much organic content to the potting soil. Both the peat and various composts included in this mix retain a considerable amount of moisture. Watering on a schedule (i.e., weekly/monthly) whether the plant requires it or not will definitely lead to problems. I am not a huge fan of any of the MG products. And potting soil for containerized plants needs to follow some rather specific guidelines. Look for a potting 'soil' (really a soilless mix) that has minimal compost as an ingredient - it is very moisture retentive, really doesn't serve much purpose for indoor plants and it tends to compact over time, decreasing porosity and reducing drainage. It should not be soil based, but with peat or coir and a healthy percentage of bark fines and non-organic assists to drainage like perlite, pumice or high-fired clay particles (Turface). I'd avoid vermiculite as it has very similar characteristics to compost - it holds too much water then collapses over time when fully saturated. Make up your own if you can't find a suitable commercial mix. Make sure the container is not too large for the rootball - generally no more than 1-2" greater than the rootball circumference. Larger tends to hold in more moisture than the roots need and will lead to problems. And contrary to common belief, adding a layer of gravel, stones or pot shards to the bottom of the container only serves to impede proper drainage rather than enhance it - it has to do with maintaining a uniform texture throughout the container as well as lifting the saturated zone up close to the roots. You may find it helpful doing some reading on the Container Gardening forum to educate yourself on these issues as well as tips for many good container soil recipes. Water only when the soil becomes completely dry. Ficus benjamina develops large bulbous roots that are water storage organs and the plant is relatively drought tolerant as a result. And be sure to empty any saucers under the container after watering. Also, keep away from drafts or any direct heat sources - ficus tend to be quite sensitive to both and will defoliate rapidly when exposed to either.

Jan this is a floor tiles and pebble area is for under freestanding tub. The grout dust probably hasn't been completely cleaned off yet and we intend to use an enhancer to darken up the stones - just would like to make the grout look at least wet (but not sure that particular grout can be darkened since it has a stain-resister and sealer in it).
