Bothering to 'delete' is more time than I would give to this.

i was getting so many emails from chewy for dog-related stuff, it was becoming downright annoying. i didn't want to unsubscribe as i thought that might affect the emails i get when i make purchases. found out that those emails will still come to my inbox so i went ahead and unsubscribed and i no longer get the ads for every dog toy/food/coats, etc. under the sun!

No, but if you move one of the messages into your inbox the unsubscribe link might work. At least in the email program I use (Outlook), items in the Junk folder automatically have their links disabled.

I wouldn't know as I never check my junk mail. It's not something I would worry about or try to correct.

I would strongly suggest periodically checking junk. Sometimes information you actually want or have asked for will go in there by default. Theatre and travel tickets, messages from organisations I belong to - they've all ended up in junk before now.

I've had that happen too floral, so can't help but check the junk file before hitting delete all.

None to the number that you describe, but I have found with increased ordering of goods Covid era I get many advertising emails daily.

As Bookwoman said, I cannot unsubscribe from my junk file. The emails must be moved to Inbox first. I found that out when I'd bought a monogrammed serving board for a neighbor and was finding about two a day there from Mark and Graham company. How many monogrammed things does one need ;)

Depending on the subject line it seems, I will find something occasionally that really is from a known person that I would like to read, even family, so I do check there regularly.

The only time I look in my junk folder is when I can't locate an email I'm expecting. I don't find I have any other reason to look at a folder whose sole purpose is to keep me from having to look at its contents. Nor do I care much if there's one email or a hundred from a company in there.

I mark anything I don not want as "spam". They didappear.

What email host are you using?

When it's in my junk folder, I don't bother myself about it, mail in there gets automatically deleted after a certain amount of time anyway.

And I also check my junk folder in Outlook/Hotmail daily. I've had order confirmations & invoices show up in there for purchases for work, among other important things, like emails from people I know who aren't in my contacts. Doing it daily makes it less onerous, since I only need to check as far as the previous time of day.

FWIW, even sources I've marked as safe, will sometimes go to the junk folder because of updates, etc.

I never look at my gmail account spam, but I don't use that one for work. Now I feel like I need to go check, just in case...😄

Sometimes, you can open the unsubscribe button and have it open in a Private tab in Firefox, that will work.

Also, I hate Yahoo these days. You can only block addresses if you pay for their upper Yahoo version. So you may not be able to block. Ugh

FWIW, blocking spam addresses isn't very effective, since similar emails can be from multiple addresses. I get a slew of spam mails with the same or similar subject lines, but different sources.

Ever since an important message from my doctor was sent to the spam folder because the heading looked like spam I click on the message then use those three little dots to see what the actual address is. If you click on "block sender" the address will be visible to read.

Then I can decide if I want to read it or not.

Since doctors have gone to using some third party emails it is easy to dismiss things as junk. The doctor I was using at that time used a company for billing and appointments rather than their own staff.

The reason for having a junk file is to not have to be bothered. It seems like your email provider identifies them and handles them properly. Why look at them?

I have Easy Spirit marked for the junk file, so yes Windows Live is handling them properly. It's just that I have never seen so many from this company (or any other) coming in every 15 or 30min. I just now deleted 8 more. Something just ain't right.

Tried moving one to the In box to be able to have a clickable link to unsubscribe, but that didn't work. Tried yesterday to send "Please unsubscribe" by replying to one of the messages, but it came back as not able to be delivered.

Looking for wanted items that were mistakenly treated as being unwanted and sent directly to trash is one thing. But you're doing the opposite, reading or paying attention to UNwanted emails that were properly kept out of your main inbox. Or have I misunderstood?

There's no need to delete emails in a spam folder.

Items can go to the junk mail if the sender is not in your contacts. Which is why the lab results I was waiting for ended up there. Doctor who ordered the tests was in contacts but not the doctor who reviewed and sent them to me with my doctor's permission. Tests were fine but my nerves were not.

Well, how exactly do I look for "wanted" mail in the junk file without opening it? Among the 18 Easy Spirit emails in there this morning could have been something else. And I guess I didn't realize the junk file will empty on its own. I do remember long ago with Outlook you could set a time as to how long to keep junk before deleting, I'll have to find that option in Windows Live. Never thought about that. Another way would be every time I get a wanted email in Junk, I'll mark it "safe" and send it to the inbox. But then again, I have to get into the junk file. Oh well, something's off, it will clear up on its own I hope.

I think you are right, something is off. And the recorded message seems to imply that ES is aware and on it. So I think you are right, it will clear up with no further input on your part. But the situation is unnerving for sure, and I hope it gets taken care of soon.

Ha, when I went into my Windows junk file options, I didn't find where it says how long junk mail is to be held before it's deleted, but it does mention that "some (wanted) emails may appear, so check your junk file often". lol

FWIW, you do not have to open the emails, but you have to open the junk folder to see what's in it. I'm unfamiliar with Windows mail - does it show the emails in each folder as a list, or can you configure it to do that if it's not doing it now?

Did I miss it? Have you checked the sender's emails to know they're actually coming from Easy Spirit?

But again, this is a non-issue - just scroll on by. If they really bug you, there should be a checkbox so you can delete the offending items en masse without opening them.

And I would not click any links in those spam mails.

Mark them as spam. They shouldn't download at all then.

ETA: I just went to my "junk" folder and scrolled through to make sure it was all junk. Then I "selected all" then right clicked. Scrolled down to "move to" then chose "deleted". Any of those emails come again, they automatically go into the deleted folder which I can right click and empty without looking at them.

Just ignore what's in trash. Why bother?

If for whatever reason you feel compelled to read and react to garbage that your email provider has handled properly by diverting the messages away from where they would clutter your normal inbox, abandon this email address and open a new one. Tell your friends about the change. Going forward, don't sign up for anything with your new, uncluttered address and use it for business with mainstream companies and for friends/family messaging.
