Water pooling on newly installed paver patio

The paver patio got installed last week. Other landscaping work is still on going.

Today we discovered a bigger issue....After the landscapers were gone for the day, we decided to wash the paver patio as it was looking really dirty/muddy. We washed it with a hose and there are multiple spots were water pooled.

Please see pics and tell me if this is reason to be concerned or not. We only ran water for a few minutes and when I went back after may be 20-25 mins, there were still little water remaining over multiple spots.

I want to say though, this crew has been so hardworking. They have put so much hours into this, its just so sad they wouldn't test along the way and might have to spend as much hours fixing it.

Please note they did install french drain throughout the backyard and around the back perimeter of this patio as well.

Why are a few slightly low spots an issue?

What are they sitting on? What happens when others move slightly and create more low spots, or maybe some raise a bit making it look like others have sunk.

makes sense so guess we should actually have the security fence installed BEFORE the patio is redone maybe? -that way they can just cut around the sleeves or we can choose a patter/pavers that integrates the security poles the best...

Sanding gaps in paver patio--what is "bad" install???

how consistent should the amount of sanding between pavers be? there are some on our newly repaved-with-pavers-lanai that look like they have almost no sand between pavers and other areas where the sand is flush to the pavers' edges... more gap areas than flush areas on the lanai edges are on either a poured footing or something that won't move like pool coping or house and are mortared down so "creeping" will be minimal but aesthetics and ability to trap moisture/dirt is increased with more gapping to my mind... the driveway done at the same time with same brand of pavers (but different color and style/pattern) has much more consistently fully sanded seams between pavers than the lanai... the lanai was laid over the original concrete patio which was not cracked/buckling so there is smooth base under the pavers... can't post photos here--don't upload to any site to link to but just want to know what the tolerance for gaps is with granite I know some people accept larger gaps in seams-- I had great granite guys that did my home remodel and seams were minimal--1/4 inch or less... had friend who had her kitchen done and she has noticeable seam that is maybe 3/8 of inch--and was told that was "good" job...

I wouldnt bother, I have never seen pavers damaged by salt. If you have a dog or something that gets in and out of the pool in one place alot, then just hose off the pavers in that area occasionally, so the salt doesnt build up. Once you seal, you have to continue to seal, creates a mess.

Wood conditioning Wood apply to many different methods and types conditioners, many that contain water. I wood call what you describe as water popping. I almost always use oil based penetrating or wiping stains and never felt the need to condition the wood. I do highly recommend trying on sample piece if the same wood preferably from the manufacturer. one could look into some woodworking forums, they have all kinds of methods to condition and stain.

From my perspective (limited/photo), it looks like there is a lack of slope. I had a large paver patio at my last house and my landscaper was very careful to give it slope which was challenging given the size.

My pavers were smaller and varied in size. With large pavers, slope is harder to hide - as you have. Also, being up against the house limits options. The house is not sloped because that would be unsightly and it wasn't designed as a patio which limits the slope in those planes. That being said, it would stll seem doable. Although I think that corner of the house, it will be visually noticeable.

I think - though I can't know for sure - that you need more slope. Get a 3 or 4 foot level and place it on the patio. It should slope away from the house. Otherwise it could be a foundation issue.

Pavers are not permeable. The spaces in between are not really to allow water to pass. Water will pool unless they are sloped. You may not like the visual of the slope but it is necessary.

I agree with David: possibly a lack of a proper slope. We had a large backyard paved patio and front walkway installed a few years ago, and the landscape did a proper slope. No water collecting issues.

Picture #3 - it looks like the aggregate is not evenly tamped and that there could air pockets beneath the pavers in that last row. Did they use sand below the pavers? Maybe it's just the angle of the photo, but the grading looks pretty funky.
