Layout opinions please before final design
Comments (10)Thank you holligator! The hole in my kitchen floor finally got covered up and the monstrosity that held the oven has been removed. Now I can visualize the space a little better. I've downloaded a bunch of programs to try and see a plan in 3D but none of them will work with my laptop. I'm having a terrible time trying to visualize the layout altogether. I still like the first design so far because I think the Fridge will work the best in that corner. I can back it through the wall and have it line up with the cabinets. If it's in the other spots it will stick out too far. I'll have a better feel for that as well when it gets delivered next week. Here's what the space looks like right now: From Kitchen Design Would having the L on these two walls work? I'd have to make the island smaller unless I made the L into a horseshoe with seats on one side? OMG I'm driving myself crazy. From Kitchen Design Here's a view of the other side of the kitchen. a balcony/deck runs along side that wall. I think I'm just leery of closing the door up. Everyone keeps telling me to open the wall or take it down. Then I'd have nothing but open space and no where to put any artwork. It feels like a fishbowl with all these windows. I guess I'm just having a hard time getting used to the place. From Kitchen Design...See MoreI need some quick opinions please on this gel stain
Comments (13)With my other bathroom, I used this same gel stain and the plywood end next to the toilet was the spot I started with, and how I found this technique. I put the gel stain on with a dry brush, and coated it evenly. Then I dipped the brush in a cup of thinner and went over the whole thing, wiping off the excess onto a rag every so often. That thinned it without wiping it off. When it was the thickness I wanted - the right amount of grain showing through - I went over it one more time with just the very end of the brush and that feathered out most of the brush marks. But I sanded the plywood end on this bathroom down too much I think, and the gel just wasn't as workable. I didn't sand anything except that one end, so the rest should be easier. I also used a rag, a nylon one I think, to do the drawers and doors and didn't have any problem with it going on too thick or wiping off too much. I tried a cotton rag and it did take off too much....See MoreMy Kitchen Basic's... opinions please
Comments (28)Think shoes. When platforms came back they wrapped the leather around the base, rather than really showing the platform. Turquoise and birch may sound retro, but the colors on your paint cards aren't the 50's-60's turquoise, and the Silestone looks nothing like Formica. The details are different. You can do some referential things, and still be very now. Even something like the quilted stainless backsplash: plain, it's retro, in the turquoise, with your other finishes, it's cutting edge. Re urban artsy, it might be pushing it, but if you're interested in a built in fridge, you could do a painting on the panels....See MoreNeed quick advice please - does 4 ton sound right for my house?
Comments (21)tigerdunes - I have the model #s so I'm hoping you can help. First I should mention my guy contacts me today and says he can get me a better unit that is HE that comes with a rebate ranging from $300-$700. This new set up is $1000 more (So 4950 total less the rebate). Below are the model numbers. I'm googling them and I'm confused because he told me the new set up would be 96% efficient as opposed to 80% (which is what he org quoted) but the model #s bring up info online that shows 80%. Please help. This stuff is sitting in my garage. Goodman GSX130481 Goodman GMS81005CN Goodman CAPF4860C6...See Moremojavemaria
