anyone know what kind this is?

I'd like to know so I can look out for seeds, to try to grow one in a pot. (I had one but it got heat shock while I was out of town, unfortunately.)

Or, do all palm seeds look pretty similar? (I tried looking online but I wasn't able to find anything very helpful. I don't think these palms are rare.)

There is generally a lot of plant material that is getting blown around. I probably *do* have seeds from the last time it fruited. I just don't know what to look for.

Interesting about the suckering. I thought those were just weeds. I don't recollect seeing suckers on Fagus sylvatica over here. It’s certainly not known for it. Does it sucker in the US? Does Fagus grandifolia sucker? Seeing leaves would still be helpful to pin down the species.

It's not really possible to identify from these pictures. You will need to let the culms mature and grow. There are like 1500 types of bamboo and cross species... There is a large culm that is cut, so you are probably looking at a 30-60ft bamboo species there.

The plant app PictureThis says it is a ficus aka rubber tree. They can grow quite tall.

I'm going to try to grow another one, if I can just figure out what the seeds look like - now that I have a couple clues, that will be much easier.

Now to see if I can find any. Theodore Payne sells the W filifera, iirc. So that's an option.

I would have expected the seeds to be a lot smaller. It's an interesting piece, if anyone's interested. (Maybe you-all already know these things.)
