Agree that it looks like cherry. And for certain it's been trained to grow in this spiral shape.

When I google image search acer rubrum bark, most photos have very thick scales or ridges, it doesn't really look like this. Also, I don't have any great red fall color from these. These trees are pretty big, past the young stage. They do grow in very moist soil. thanks

If you know where it was purchased, I would take the photo there and see if they know which cultivars of Thuja they sell. A tree that young hasn't developed whatever growth is characteristic, so I cannot help on cultivar suggestions. If you don't know where it was bought, do as Embo suggested.

The many tall tree-like ones I have seen here have all been leaning markedly or have had other things about their appearance/condition that did not make them come across as fully committed, bona fide trees. I like this species much better hard pruned in spring to remain short and bushy. And without the flowers concentrated mostly in the upper sections of long, straight stems that branch comparatively infrequently.
