They're not so happy right now, though. :-( They were doing great for months in the grow tent for winter, and then I was stupid enough to introduce a plant from a local nursery into the grow tent with them. BAD CHOICE. The nursery plant apparently had both spider mite and whitefly eggs. I soaped them all; the adult adenium got angry about the insecticidal soap and shattered. All those pretty leaves and flowers, PLOP. At least they're hardy, and growing shiny new leaves now. I can tell you, though, I was well PO'd at the nursery--and my own foolishness--for messing up my babies. Anyway, I certainly won't be sending out anything live until I'm sure the nasties are gone for months. And no more nursery shopping. I don't trust them any more.

Hi, Toni - I fertilized with Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro - can't remember the numbers on that one, and I no longer have the original container. I think I over-fertilized, since this plant can usually stand to be watered quite liberally, especially in summer. I am a little worried about leaching the soil because since I repotted this plant in a glazed ceramic container, it hasn't dried down as fast as I expected, but I guess I will have to try it before this brown crispiness gets any worse. I was thinking the problem was overwatering because the inner margins of the brown areas are yellow. Yes, hopefully this plant will pull through - it's one of my favorites - I actually rescued it from wal mart, which was selling it as a pseudo-bonsai (with the rocks glued over the top of the soil), and it had fallen down behind the shelves and gotten half-smashed. I was happy, though: I got it for half off! I have had it for a year and it's never showed signs of blooming.

Andrea, Arizona sun will be OK for adenium, just be careful with caudex and roots! Double pots are great for protecting roots from overheating, especially after watering. This summer I killed 4 adeniums, they were on smallish size and roots cooked in small black nursery pots during 90+ weather with heavy rain! When i pulled first one out of pot, I realized that temp inside must be above 120 degrees, add humid media and you have DR soup instead of roots :(. I had always kept my DRs in bigger clay pots and never had this problem, and now I lost whole bunch at once! I believe that second pot would help prevent this problem! Aggie

As long as I own my adenium plants and all of my other plants, I don't use anything else but Osmocote. Many people use many different kinds of fertilizer, and if they like it, they continue to use it. For me, I like Osmocote. Marie
