suggestion for office paint color (full spectrum)
Comments (5)Hi, Patricia, Thank you for your response. It's an office in my home, a small bedroom about 10x10. The window is off to one side and it's 5' tall by about 2 1/2 feet wide. As for the furniture, it's a mishmash. I have an ugly 5-drawer metal file cabinet I'd like to replace. It has a large corner-unit desk that is a light wood color with a black top. I also have another light wood desk in there. I don't have any pictures, but in any case I'd be too embarrassed to post a photo as the room isn't gorgeous as what I always see on this web site! It's just a boring '70s tract house tiny bedroom which serves as my home office. Clients don't visit -- it's just me working in there. Right now the walls are stark white, and the room is in desperate need of paint. I want to keep it light but don't want to do stark white again. I want a light color that will be nice to look at while I slave away at my computer. Thanks for your input :-)...See MoreHelp choose the home office paint color :-)
Comments (17)The office and foyer look to have good natural light while the kitchen does not. If that's true, based on the progression I outlined above, I would put the lightest color in the kitchen, a mid-range shade in the foyer and the darkest color on a color strip card in the office. Use the flooring as your key, and go with blue or yellow undertones, all depending on the warmth or "coolth" of the flooring color. For example, if you have yellow undertones you might try a selection of more pastel olive greens (usually yellow based) or if cool, some sage greens have more blue undertones. Christopher Lowell has an easy method to help you get a good neutral that is not influenced much by blue or yellow, but a true neutral for a good background. Here is his video "7 layers of design." It is covered in step # 1 of his system. The style is a bit dated and the order of the steps can vary from his, but the basic principles still work very well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4u32tmcE3U...See MoreDemo Room! Comments (1)First rememberer that paint colors on the wall can look a little darker than on the swatch. I would take a look at Benjamin Moore Ocean Air 2123-50. Because it has a gray undertone it feels adult but will still brighten up the space. It's dark enough not to look washed out but not so dark that it will make your room feel smaller - especially with the dark wood floors....See Moremeticulousmanda
