I looked at the Windsor Pinnacle Casement online and there was not enough information for me to take them seriously. I was not impressed with what little was offered which consisted of typical sales claims ("heavy duty extruded cladding" that appeared to be thin hollow extrusions) and a cut-away sample of a lower corner of a window that was impossible to understand since it was cut diagonally. Marvin provides scaled detail drawings in plan and section that can be downloaded.

@Ronnie Hossain Pella was sued and settled the case for Pella ProLine casement, awning, or transom window which were manufactured between January 1, 1991, and December 31, 2009 (“Pella ProLine Casement Window”) As @millworkman said, most issues people having is improper installation, and for every complaint, we address when it comes to newly installed windows or doors or anything else for that matter 90% of the issues are related to improper installation or flashing applications, etc. Not sure what happened in your case since you didn't say what issues you experienced yes some company representatives do try to point the arrows at the installers but most of the time they're right because not many follow the manufacturer's guidelines and not only when it comes to windows I see that with backer board installations, with composite decking installations, etc. That being said, I'm not defending Pella window manufacturer, I never used Pella and never suggested using them, just telling you based on my general experience... If you take the best product out there and you do not follow the manufacturer's minimum installation requirements there will be issues. Good luck

Do I need to pull a permit to switch from my current slider to this one? No changes at all otherwise. I mean, I am painting and stuff, but no structural changes? Are you saying I should wait and do this with a permit while repairing part of a kitchen (where door is located)? I cannot seem to figure out how to find a thermally broken aluminum door? @eastbay10 - can you help me understand why a fiberglass door is a better way to go? @Windows on Washington - what does it mean to "outperform"? RL - we helped our son and daughter in law build their tiny house - it's now in Port Angeles, WA. They had the same goals as you, used Roxul, wanted low VOCs, USA made products etc. They used Sierra Pacific clad windows and did the interior sash painting themselves. I don't know if no VOCs is possible, very low is attainable and theirs had months to off gas during the build before they moved in. Best of luck with your project. It makes for an interesting lifestyle.
