Thanks for the additional info. Bumblebeez, that is a beautiful table. Now I have to share something I discovered this week. I already have a Schnadig chair and love it. I had forgotten who made it until we were moving it out of the living room to install wood floors. I took off the cushion and there was the tag. I know I've seen it many times before due to cleaning under it and we've had the chair for about 3 years. I just didn't file it away in the ol' brain. As for the construction and durability, I'll share another story. This chair actually fell off our truck and onto the freeway going about 60 mph when it was new. One of the tie down straps broke and it bounced around for a few yards. Luckily no one was around or hurt. And the chair just had a few upholstery tears and a missing leg. I recovered it in a fabric I liked even more and refuse to give up this chair. It is a chair & 1/2 and so comfy. I think I will look for another one and a sofa. I'm not concerned that everything matches, as in a set, since I decorate in a more relaxed, cottage style. I love to mix and match fabrics and textures. Also, thanks for the sentiments about our dog. She is sorely missed.

I would leave the TV where it is; it is at the appropriate height for viewing. I would paint that wall to match the others in the room. It would diminish the contrast between the TV and wall. I would place minimal if any artwork around the TV. You are going to run into problems placing your pieces around the various switches. I don't see any lamps in your room. I would focus on lighting and window treatments next. I love your area rug - I would find some way to use that beautiful shade of blue as an accent color. And your pup is adorable!

The column has the medicine cabinet built into it accessed by pushing in on the panel. On the toilet side of the column the bottom section holds TP storage inside accessed the same way. Completely hidden away but functional. Nice! Wish I (or my KD) had thought to put a storage area facing the toilet. Great idea. We’re building our “aging in place” home too. Yes, I did a great deal of caretaking for both of my grandparents, and they both had "toilet needs" as they got older. Storage near the toilet is a great idea -- and since everyone needs toilet paper storage, you can't go wrong with it. My biggest lesson learned is to go with what YOU love. Eh, I don't know. Essentially you're saying 'Build your home with your heart'. Some of the things I really like aren't necessarily smart. I think this concept works for some things, but not others.

Thank you, Mae. I'm definitely trying to enjoy this time, I know how fast it goes. The kids are just REALLY missing our old house. It's only 5 minutes away, but the house itself they are missing. My 4 year old asked the other week "when can we go back home?" my 8 year old can't talk about the old house without tearing up and my 11 year old who used to share a bedroom, is now scared to go to bed and says her room terrifies her at night. I know a big part of the home sickness is the new house doesn't have a homey feel yet. I have been buying soooo much stuff but I couldn't even tell you what. A book I bought for one of my open shelf areas🙄 said exactly what drdeb said. So I have definitely slowed down and decided to do one room at a time. I am just rushing a bit for the kids sake... maybe mine too. I think for the empty wall area I'm going to do family pictures. I know it's not what most designers would do, but I think I can display it in a tasteful way, and my family is really the only thing I love enough to hang in such a showcased area. We just now got family pictures with our newest addition so it might be awhile until I get them back, so I'll still keep my eyes open for something that really speaks to me but I'm not holding my breath. Thank you everyone for all the help once I start getting everything in and put together I will post pictures! Now, I think the next room to tackle will be my daughter's "terrifying bedroom." 😩
