Comments (17)Thanks exmar! ItâÂÂs time for me to try for some relief due to feeling IâÂÂm not getting good sleep. The Hearing Specialist mentioned she had alternatives when I was ready. I feel her alternatives would be inserted in the ear as a hearing aid. I will opt to something out of the ear thinking I will still hear any signs of danger better. I see plenty options online but I feel my option blocks away will be just as competitive. I am just getting over the 300.00 DrâÂÂs visit that I thought would be covered by my Ins Co Pay since the cost w/n sent until 3 mo later. I chewed them good since it was a few mo before I went into Medicare. A little relief was explained later that even with Ins and Medicare, it still w/h been a 150.00 visit....See MoreAroids from seed?
Comments (83)actually Pinecrest has a lot of profs from UofM - it's almost a college town now :) and real estate around Pinecrest gardens is going thru the roof - there is a very handsome library next to it and quite an active greenmarket on w-ends. The community is shaping nicely and botanical gardens are maintained still and are doing quite well. It is like a real jungle, almost - not as manicured as Fairchild, but a lot of very good specimens. In some ares it's so-o overgrown as to be almost magical...but the ponds that were laid in long time ago just overgrew completely and are full of koi. And it is not very touristy, as it is a bit farther then Fairchild - well worth a visit for plant lovers! am a bit off topic, so just want to add that my one seed is finally showing a stem sprout about 1/2 inch...i sprouted some cycads, and they were almost as slow as these ags! but since it's similar for you - now i am not worried. i do this for fun, you know :). I have a very limited space in the apt and close to 100 plants !?!... Though as far as apts go it's quite large, especially for NYC (i am across the river in Jersey City actually, but just one stop across). thanks for the offer, i saw your list in another thread, i'll go look at it carefully. I only have one big ag - pink thai Anyamanee that i picked up at the Fairchild greenmarket a few years back. It's done phenomenally well for me. I just love it, it is growing quite large too :). I usually bring some plants from Miami ev year - too tempting ..can't resist it.... you posted that PHOE relocated to Redlands - we go to spice park ev 2nd year , perhaps, so i'll make sure to visit their new location next door. But it's a pity that South Miami nursery closed - it was a magical place. I learned about it in Begonia forum from hcmc - and was visiting there for 3 years in a row....it was obvious that they were going to close - the place was overgrown and kind of falling apart - but plants there were just STUPENDOUS!...i just adored the place! at least i have lotsa pics ;)......See MoreBuilding with your self drawn plan?
Comments (21)Many thanks to all your generous response. muddy and hgoed, I will certainly consider Chief Architect. A quick question, are you using X1 or X2? Also can you elaborate a bit on the code check feature (Residential Code Checklist)? If I remember correctly, the Home design Pro also claims to have that feature. I have been wondering how that works. The list of codes from the city is awfully long. This can be a critical feature if it indeed will go over all those codes. oruboris, BH&G is still on my list. One of the concerns that I have is the max print size limit (Arch-C). The city required Arch D 24 Ã 36. I wonder if there is any work around. For example, export those plans to dxf and then modify the paper size using other program like doubleCAD, CadStd, or other... Or export them to PDF and change to paper size. I am just thinking out loud. marthaelena, I have not thought of using sketchup. Last time I saw that it was sketchup 4. It is now sketchup 7. Wow, I am really outdated. I don't have any experience with sketchup. What is your take on using it to draw a buildable plan? arewethereyet, I love your user name. It took me a while to catch it. Ah, we are still planning out our trip. We are not even qualify to ask that question (are we there yet) ;) Thank you for sharing your Blueprint-Maker-Guy story, that was a good found. I just visited RobÂs site. The price is surly right. We are still thinking of drawing our plan. But, we certainly need to find someplace to get them printed later. Also, if we ever change our mind and have further question about Rob, can we PM you?...See MoreChristmas and Families Demands - Long post
Comments (39)Thank you, scissors, for posting this. My in-laws are very nice people, but were very demanding about Christmas. My friends who haven't been through it often don't really understand the level of intensity people like that feel about being at all their family Christmas functions. Those posters who say things like "I seriously doubt that they realize the pressure and inconvenience it creates" - yes, yes they DO understand the pressure and inconvenience it creates. It's not that they don't understand and it's not that they don't care, but it is bone-deep critical to them that you be there no matter what the cost. Those posters who say blame it on the baby, or "they can't be mad at a baby" - that doesn't work either. They don't care if it doesn't suit the baby's schedule, or if the baby has a routine and doesn't respond well to changes, or anything like that. As far as they are concerned, what the baby wants is completely, totally immaterial. As far as they are concerned, it's a baby. The baby will get over it. It doesn't matter if the baby is cranky, tired, has been dragged all around the state in the past two days in the name of Christmas, the baby and the parents can/should handle it. The ONLY acceptable reason for the baby not to come is if the baby is sick. Not just a cold or the sniffles, but running a fever, etc. Again, it's not that they don't understand and it's not that they don't care. They do. But it is unthinkable that they don't have all their family at their Christmas functions. NO other holiday will substitute. Not a family reunion in the summer, not Thanksgiving, nothing but Christmas. I don't understand it, I'll never understand it. I tried to understand it, and after all these years I'm glad I don't understand it. My son is 24 years old and for the first time in his life we are going to have all of Christmas Day at home. He told me just the other day that he is "totally pumped" about the awesome Christmas Day we can have at home. Knowing my son, I thought "Oh my goodness. What on earth are we in for?!!! Are we driving to some spectacular mountain biking spot, driving for 6 hours to some place where we can snow tube?!!!!" Nope, what he wants is to stay in pajamas, cook a big breakfast, play games and cards and watch movies like "What a Wonderful Life". He's never had that. How did I handle demanding relatives at Christmas? When my husband asked me to marry him, I kid you not I told him that I would like to marry him, but we had to agree that we wouldn't go to all 4 separate family Christmas celebrations his family held for the rest of my life - no way was I dragging my kids to all that. If my family had had the same attitude as my husband's family, we would have had 8, yes 8 separate family events complete with travel, large meal and gift exchange. Ahhhhh, thanks for letting me vent!!!!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you that there is someone else somewhere who understands. Hugs across the internet, scissors!!!!...See More- 3 years ago
