This type of door is nice but not necessary. Whether it's worthwhile needs to be considered in relation to the whole project. Few of us can afford ALL the "oh, that'd be so nice" items that are available to us, and it's all too easy to ask, "Do I want it?" . . . When the real question should be, "Is this small addition worth the cost?" I'd say consider all those other extras -- built-ins, upgraded lighting, artisan tile, extra large closets, vaulted ceilings, whatever else -- and ask which of these things will bring you the most enjoyment and the most value for your dollar.

Not all new construction homes in Arizona are built with side entry doors anymore. I don't quite understand it and seems like a potential fire trap. What if the garage caught fire with someone in it and the door entering the house was locked? Sure, you might be able to remotely open the overhead if you could find the remote in time or manually pull it open, but how long could that take? Not everyone is capable of lifting up those heavy doors. I see many homes in the community where I live that don't have side doors. Buyers usually don't notice until they move in and go to take the trash out (usually through the garage).

cute house, I love your brick garden bed! with this color scheme, I think this house would look great with all white trim. will the garage door fit in the front door frame? I think it's really cool -- the three squares are very mid century. if you can, swap the two doors, and get rid of the security door. it's not very nice looking.... and it appears to not serve a purpose (since the windows don't have bars)? if you swap the two, I think you have two options: 1. make both doors matching color (I like that coral you have now). 2. or like houssaon suggested: paint the garage door and the frame the same color as the siding to get it to kind of disappear. if you don't like it, it would be really easy to paint again.

Suzanne, I don't know where you are located or your climate, just be aware there are only a couple of refrigerator-freezer combos that will run reliably in winter without making an adjustment to them (adding a small heat wire behind the thermostat, kits avail). My climate is mild, my garage unheated other than the rare occasion DH will turn on heat on his side. We have only a handful of overnight freezes and I cannot trust the freezer compartment in the garage refrigerator from about Nov until Mar each year. The refrigerator portion works fine. If the model in your kitchen now is old enough, there is a chance it would work OK in your garage, the older models didn't have a problem but you will find the new units are not OK in a garage that will be dropping under about 40F...just don't want you surprised.
