Furniture Design Dilemma dining room

Should I paint dining room table chairs?

I’m considering replacing my current table with a lighter one (that also expands like my example screenshot).

My chairs are in good condition. Would it make sense to paint them a similar wood color as the new table?

By the time you paint AND reupholster the chairs, you could sell them and start over. You'll never get a good paint job in a color that comes close to "wood" ( uggghh) .

Sell the entire set, buy new chairs.

If you want to paint something? The server/cabinet. Paint it.

Struggling here to figure what feel you are going for : ) .......but it's too cluttered for any great feel.

Actually, make the gallery wall the one with the doo dad collection, and take the art to where the gallery was. Take all the framed table top pic off. Add a nice lamp. White? No. It need not match the kitchen cabinets. Maybe a deep cobalt blue? But I'd paint that, long before the chairs.

the picture and placement of the gallery are a bit emotionally placed so not sure about moving them

i need a new table because i want something bigger and my style now is lighter wood, that’s why i’m considering replacing the items

Can you post a picture? I am getting a sofa table that will be next to my DR table and I’m having it made by a local craftsman. He’s matching the wood of my table. In my case, legs are white and table a light-medium wood. He’s doing that for the sofa table. A picture will help though.

Finding suitable extra chairs is not going to be easy, but test a few out once you have table, so you can get a sense of how (or not) they work. The table should suit the living room and kitchen and the 2 types of chairs; perhaps a modern black oak table with simple lines could work. You may have to include modern elements to find the right balance with living room especially You said you are stuck with the chairs and going to design around them. Seems a shame to restrict table choices and have non-matching chairs. Could end up with an odd mix that doesn’t quite complement rooms either. Maybe consider selling the chairs and you could probably get at least 1/2 their original cost and then start fresh. It will be easier to start with the table and then chairs. Good luck.

I completely agree that it would be better to just get new chairs with the new table. I think you can find a style and finish that fits with the table much better than trying to make the current chairs something they are not. Sell or donate the set of chairs and the table and get some chairs that work with your new style.
