How small is too small for a bathroom

pete pan
last year

We have a master bath that has a lot of dead space, and a tube we do not use (and never plan to, there is already a tub in another bath on the floor). We have twin tweens, and they do not like sharing a bath, and it obviously will only get worse (B&G). We are discussing adding another bath to our 2nd floor. We seem to have 2 options.

1) convert the laundry room into a bath and then have a "laundry closet" (which neither of us really want to do)

2) give up some of our bath to make a small kids bath

The image on the left is the current setup, and the one on the right is just something I threw together. The current shower is small, so I figured I would make it as big as we can without blocking the window. We do NOT want to have to do a lot of plumbing rerouting, and I think this might be a good solution.

Anyone do anything like this, and was the new bath too small to be practical?
