Flooring so treadmill won't be too loud
Comments (3)We have a treadmill upstairs in a carpeted room, but got some big thick black rubber mats with perforations at Home Depot and laid them all under it. They are fairly attractive for what they are. Do you have to keep the floor bare because of the dogs and potential 'accidents'? Otherwise, could you put an inoffensive outdoor carpet down? We got some of that acoustical material online in our last house for a sleeping room that we wanted to keep real quiet during neighborhood parties, and frankly it didn't work worth beans. Maybe we didn't install it correctly, or maybe it wasn't good material. I'd be very careful to make sure you're getting the genuine thing....See MoreArchitect screwed up big time and won't give us plans. Now what?
Comments (56)Bluffing is not against the law but threats of that nature can be construed as blackmail by the person being threatened. Where did you get the idea that making people mad was an effective dispute resolution strategy? The strongest leverage the OP had was the ability to terminate the contract. But that bridge has already been burned for no benefit without consulting a lawyer who would have warned that it would anger the architect and close the door to a timely negotiated settlement. Adding blackmail-like threats is only going to guarantee there will be no short term settlement and the OP doesn't have time to use any other method of dispute resolution. I don't see how your online comments elsewhere about responding to online complaints about your work could possibly be of use to the architect in question. This seems a very odd forum in that contractors can grandstand and post self-serving spam promoting their businesses....See Morehelp!! new cabinet drawers won’t open
Comments (61)I told you at the beginning that you hired a hack. Nothing has changed my mind about that. It’s just reinforced it. You lied to yourself about the job on the front end. You jumped all over a TANSTAAFL “deal” that was too good to be true. You didn’t even bother to do your due diligence, or you’d have found the lapsed license. And probably a whole lot more. Even if your kitchen is smaller than the average 12x14 space that costs 63K to redo for a mid range project, $6700 is about 20K short of where you should be for labor. That’s another warning sign that you ignored. When something is way to cheap to be real, you’re not getting real. You’re getting the fake Rolex from the guy in the trench coat in the alley. You ignored all the warnings. It’s why you are where you are at now. If the complaint is eligible for small claims court, good. You won’t need to hire a lawyer beyond a couple of hours of a basic consult. But you have zero documentation for anything to consult about. That’s not good. You probably need to chalk this up to a semester of college tuition in What NOT to Do When Hiring a Contractor. If you learn something from it, the tuition wasn’t wasted. If you didn’t learn, and keep trying to find something for nothing, then you’ll just get scammed over and over....See MoreNew oven and drawers won’t open, cut drawer faces?
Comments (64)Get better pics than the ones you have now. A pet peeve of mine is how terrible a lot of realtor.com photos are. Yours were fair, but not really good. My realtor took some excellent photos. He was able to get the bathroom in one shot, even. They really emphasized the advantages of the kitchen (even though are pine site built from the 70’s). He brought a tripod and the camera talked to his tablet so we could instantly see the pics. He had a fairly wide angle lense, but it didn’t create that curve you sometimes see in realtor photos....See Moredarbuka
