As suggested, I changed the arrangement on deck furniture
Comments (15)I prefer the more squared seating that I suggested, in part because then a majority of the seating is facing outward to the view. In the angled seating, the two chairs have their backs to the yard and are facing the house. I think it also gives a more open feeling, and eliminates that 'seats around the campfire' feeling of one seat on each side of the centered table. However, everyone knows my mantra is "your house, your choice'. You live in the space, and you have to love how things are arranged. If the angled seating works best for you, then that is the way you should use it! Just wondering, leaving things angled as they are in the last pix, could the square table fit flat against the railing between the two chairs? Or is it too large? That might open up the seating - you could add a side table at the end of the loveseat if needed....See MoreNeed suggestions on how to arrange furniture on my front porch
Comments (2)This is kind of the opposite of symmetry, but do you ever plan on eating out there or having children color or do projects? I have a small table and chairs on my front porch and I love it. Also have one on back porch so I can either follow the sun or avoid it depending on the time of year. I guess I'm suggesting think about how you will use it then choose the furniture. Have fun, Kathy...See MoreLiving Room Progress and Help Please
Comments (23)janicemarie, I think it was for 15 percent off. In my opinion, the Lee Industries sofas are worth it -- comfortable AND long-lasting. Our previous sofa was a Lee Industries bought in 1990, and after 25 years in dire need of reupholstering; unfortunately, the cost for that around here is the same as the cost of a new sofa, and it was easier to find a new sofa than a reputable upholsterer. And if you have the chance to go to Crate & Barrel and sit your bum in a sofa to try it out, do it! Lee Industries is also carried by some smaller companies in various cities in Canada. I have the names somewhere for Edmonton and Calgary -- let me know if you'd like them and I'll dig them up. If you can at all save money elsewhere and put the money saved toward a good sofa, I would do it. I'm okay with Wayfair reviews depending on what the item is, and depending on the manufacturer. I've recently bought Safavieh lamps (though they are not identified on the website as Safavieh, which is maddening) and also a Currey & Co. chandelier. Wayfair has a great selection of things I can't find elsewhere, and in some cases the lowest price (in other cases the prices seem insane). Wayfair customer service has also been terrific -- one of the finials on the Safavieh lamp was stripped, which left the lamp shade bobbling around. When I called Wayfair to ask about a replacement finial, I was told that because Safavieh does not offer replacement parts (I have a feeling the lamps are made in a factory in China, packaged as sets of two, and shipped to the US), they'd be sending me "replacement unit(s) at no additional cost" and to "please feel free to donate or dispose of the original item"....See MoreFurniture Suggestions/Arrangement for new house
Comments (1)Could you draw out the room with measurements, windows and doorways and post it. Will this room be used for TV watching? If so, is there a wall that it has to go on for the wiring? And yes, that shelving needs to go!...See Moremcarroll16
