Help with pendants over island

My island will be 117” (just under 10’). I’ve found these West Elm pendants that I love but they’re only 12” diameter. Even if I did 3 of them are they too small. Can anyone post pics of a similar setup? Or does anyone know of something similar that is bigger?

Room height plays a part in choosing proportionate accents lighting like pendants. As does the other general lighting plan. The work surface has to be lit well! It is, after all, the primary purpose of lighting! So, an overall lighting plan has to ensure that you don't have big shadows or hot spots.

What is your overall lighting plan for the room? What is your ceiling height? Those single small shaded pendants do not provide a lot of usable work lighting.

I dont see a power supply there, so if it needs to be added make two. Otherwise, if you do one I would do one that has two downlights on it You need forced light so something that directs the light down to the surface.

over the island i would rather see something like this, than individual pendants over the isalnd. for the sink, i would do one 'down' light. 3 to me is overkill and 2 will look 'weird'. are you installing under cab lights as well? with the undercab lights, it will help with the sink area. 'down' light another example(where all the light is down in your sink - none 'escaping' up or out of course get the fixture to scale with the space.

The Kate is lot better with a nine foot ceiling. There are many many others .....96 inches minus 72 inches means....? Your ideal pendant gives you a mount/chain or stem and fixture total of 24 inches, and comfortable look in both function an proportions. As to the relationship within that 24 inches? I don't like to see less than 6" of chain or stem. This is why, before you fall in love? Look at the drawing of the specs. Every part noted with a dimension.: )

I would provide pics but we’re not even started with our kitchen remodel. We have 9’ ceilings. We have a small island today where the big island will go. The peninsula will go away.

The independent kitchen designer who you will work with to plan your remodel should do a lighting plan for you! A full kitchen redo has a huge ton of moving and interlocking parts, that all have to fit together and meet codes. Good luck!

three that size should work, considering anything too large would block your visual space.

you can always blow up a white balloon on a string once the island is in to see how it really looks size wise.
