What colors dominate your man living area? What colors are you consistently drawn to?

I can't recommend any specific color to go with Classic Gray. That depends on what you like, how Classic Gray looks in your rooms, what other colors need to be accounted for.

You need to go to the paint store and pick up several chips of the Classic Gray and Chantilly Lace (unless you still have some of the paint and can make your own larger swatches). Then start pulling chips of blues, grays, and greens (and anything else that appeals to you) that you like, look at them next to or on the gray and Chantilly Lace to see if they work together (same color temperature ie warm or cool, compatible undertones - for example, not leaning purple or green or too gray). The paint store staff may have some suggestions, also.

The paint store may have light boxes that mimic the lighting in your home - use them if so, because the color temperature of light makes a big difference in the way any paint looks. Do you know what color temperature your new lighting is going to be? Under 3000k is very warm and looks yellow, 3000-3500 is my favorite for a clean white light but still very slightly warm, over 4000k is getting into blue-ish - any paint will look different under the different light temps. If the paint store doesn't offer that, and your new light isn't available, I know that Lowe's has them in their lighting display near the various light bulbs.

After you've weeded out the shades that you don't think will work, take the chips home and put them up against your walls and trim, again to see 1) how they look with those colors in your room's natural light and 2) do you like the look. Narrow it down to one or 3 and buy samples to paint on big pieces of poster board, to place around the room and get a true feeling for the color with the walls and flooring.

The easiest solution is to just paint the cabinets Chantilly Lace. I hope you have enough time to make a decision, good luck!

also, before you have the cabinets painted, do make sure thet sand them down and prime them well. are they cabinet refinishers or a regular painter? im currently having my cabinets refinished and it is pretty different process than jsit painting the cabients.

Are the uppers and lowers the same color? They look different. Unless it’s the lighting in the photo.

I happen to like the wood. The only reason I’d paint, is because it seems you changed out the flooring and now the two clash a bit.

What I’d do-

Match the baseboard to the wood.
And with the extra cash, I’d change the countertops, hardware and appliances

If you choose to paint, which will be lovely too…don’t get me wrong…I’d probably go with a green. But I don’t really know your style…give us more…

Colors in neighboring rooms... well we are starting again and haven't figured everything out yet. Classic Gray walls everywhere. Same flooring.

Thanks for the painting tip. Yes our painting co. has a cabinet specialist. I almost hired a joe-painter for super cheap but then luckily I did some research.

Uppers and lowers are currently the same. I didn't mind the wood before we changed the floors but it is also beat up- the veneer is coming off.

Chantilly lace does seem easiest for uppers and I think it is decent with the old white appliances. I am just wondering if we'd want something more toned down so it doesn't scream kitchen cabinets at us when we are in the living area. We do have low light though.

Any thoughts on Revere pewter or Repose Gray for uppers?

I like the hale navy sugegsrion with white upoers. i think the navy will look nice with floor color. not sure of the other finished , but i think if you did the mavy/ white a gold finish lifght fixtire and gold hardware and gold faicet would look pretty together

Revere Pewter and Repose Gray are recommended by Kylie M as good colors for cabinets. IMO, gray cabinets are a dying or dead trend. I wouldn't want to invest a lot of money in painting cabinets either of those colors, although those are warmer grays. She also recommends Ballet White or Edgecomb Gray to people who don't want white. Those are lighter warmer colors that are closer to the direction interior colors are trending right now. However, I don't think they will look good with Classic Gray walls. Chantilly Lace is the best neutral white. While there have been an awful lot of white cabinets in kitchens lately, white has been used on cabinets since the beginning of time, so I don't think it's trendy. I do think the two-toned look is trendy, but blue and white is an attractive and popular combination.

White or off white. Color will be outdated before the decade is over. Two tone will really date you!! DON'T DO IT! Best would be to refinish the wood and freshen it up.

Either a soft white or refinish what you have would be my vote.

You could go dramatic and do a charcoal grey/black.

Revere Pewter complements well your Repose Gray walls. I would paint uppers & lowers the same colour.

if the lighting will be fixed go ahead and do it right away. your space looks especially shadowy considering the size of the window. Not a lot of natural light. once lighting is improved w a plan for your conditions the correct paint or combinations of paint shades will be more obvious. I'd be reluctant to do anything but light on the wall cabinets but for example if you go ahead with under cabinet lighting also that can help. As far your statement " not too bright for the uppers" doesnt really make sense. A view into the space through an opening is nothing uncommon . I doubt people sit and peer at the cabinets. Its the total package that makes the bigger impression......like hardware.....style of cabinets.....backsplash....some things setting out on counter ....a bold mat on the floor.. etc....everything in totality
