Luxury Vinyl Flooring- laying it Horizontal or Vertical

Install tomo and not sure what to do.
I have received 2 different opinions. Traditionally it was follow direction of longest wall.

That would be north/south (same way wood goes)
The other installer said- he would lay it east west to open up living room.

Thoughts?

I've been told that it should go from the front to the back but honestly either way would look good. So basically, try to envision your flooring going from you bay window to the back slider so when you are directly facing your fireplace, it should be going left to right. Also, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me the brand and color that you purchased. that's exactly what I've been looking for!!!

It is 12 Oaks. SureWood collection. Color is Satin Sail. None of the pics on line show how beautiful it is. It shows grey in the photos.

I'd run the planks lengthwise - it'll help give the illusion of more space, kinda like how wearing vertical stripes makes you look tall and horizontal stripes do not.

I am wanting to replace the cheap laminate flooring in my home and considering LVP. I thought the floating floor would be the easiest to install, but after recently helping my daughter install it in her home, I'm not sure. Getting the grooves to line just perfectly was a real pain, especially in tight corners and dealing with small pieces. I'm now wondering if either glue down or loose lay may be a better option. Looking for pros and cons of each and any installation tips.

We recently had our front hall flooring installed with porcelain wood look tile and had it installed lengthwise. We felt it looked best that way.

You cannot lay vinyl over tile with grout lines - the grout lines will telegraph through. Vinyl needs a smooth surface, which means the installers will want to lay a layer of plywood down first. Plus, if you add those layers on top, the installers will have to cut the door molding shorter & probably cut the doors too. That means that if in the future you have to change flooring again, when you will definitely have to take out the extra layers, the door molding will have to be replaced or repaired. So, I say pull out the current flooring, down to the subfloor. Do it right, once.

The existing floors can be refinished. Wood is a 100 year choice for a home. Vinyl is a temporary choice, that can create all kinds of issues with solid wood below.
