There are a number of Sambucus species native to North America....some have dark, almost black berries, some have blue berries and some have red. All are edible although taste varies and cooking is generally required :-)) Cultivated forms of elderberry - and there are many - are usually cultivars of Sambucus racemosa or red elderberry. Sambucus are nitrogen loving plants and typically grow where organic matter is plentiful.

I have a large garden and MUST start cleanup early or I’d always be behind the eight ball. I removed all I could see but I’m sure some more will appear. This particular bed in on a low point so the H. Harvey waters lingered for a long time. I’m seeing lots of stuff I don’t remember seeing b4. Virginia Creeper is a freq. resident, but I’ve never seen seedling clusters like that. even some daffodils that were in under watered areas made their appearance this year; from the extra water, guessing. But they did not bloom, sigh. i greatly appreciate your help.

Familiar? No, but I see a number of negatives in it: - The exterior is full of jigs-and-jogs, which will be expensive to build /forces the roofline into something complicated. It also makes the front of the house "a lot to take in". - Four (mismatched) doors facing the front will be confusing to guests. You could easily turn three of these into windows. - Washers and dryers are best placed on the exterior of the house for ease of venting. - Walking through the kitchen (in fact, walking through the aisle that houses the sink) to reach the master is just bad planning. - The master closet is bloated but well positioned for convenience for the laundry. - For all the space in the master suite, the toilet is crammed into a small, dark closet. - The kitchen is large but poorly planned /lacking in efficiency. Imagine you take food from the refrigerator ... you have to walk the whole length of the kitchen to get to the sink, which is usually the first stop. Then to the middle of the kitchen for prep and cooking ... large doesn't mean functional. - Is the back porch covered? The breakfast nook under a covered porch is rather odd. - With porches on the front and the back, the main living areas won't receive much direct sunlight. - The outdoor kitchen would be better placed near the in-house kitchen; you don't want to walk the length of the living room with plates of food for the grill. - Where do you see a TV fitting into this great room? The furniture will be floated in the middle of the room, and the living room won't be all that big -- the space in this house is all in the bedrooms. - All of the secondary bedrooms would benefit from additional windows. - The secondary bedrooms have an awful lot of bathrooms -- one of them a maze -- that's a lot to build, a lot to clean. Do you really want to maintain all those bathrooms? - Consider getting furniture through the 90-degree turn into the back bedroom (the master would have this problem, if you didn't have that exterior door off of the porch).
