Grout in Veins of Granite: Normal or Sloppy Job?
Comments (34)"If you sound crazy, his potential customers will feel sorry for him, not you." I doubt it. A sloppy contractor is enough to drive anyone crazy." jellytoast: Don't ever doubt it. I've shown up for jobs and had customers say "I read your reviews. What's with the lady with the caulk?" I just shrug my shoulders, roll my eyes, and get to work without saying a word. Customers are much more sophisticated than many contractors give them credit for being. They worry to death about a poor review and shouldn't. I wouldn't remove a single poor review I have; they are pure gold as far as credibility. The customers I want have a fully operational kook detector....See MoreCambria Berwyn with Silver Travertine Tiles?
Comments (8)Ok, additional info was good! I have a similar looking floor tile going into one of the bathrooms I am remodeling, but it is a 12x24 porcelain tile. Since I am also using a white vanity, I didn't think that a white quartz counter was right for this space. I am using Pental quartz in their Carrara Polished color (BQ8530P). Very subtle pattern that doesn't clash with the floor tile, but has enough contrast with the white vanity. I only need it for a double counter and will be having to buy a whole slab, but that is just the way things work out sometimes when you have a certain look you want to achieve. If you live in So. CA I'll share the other half with you!! You could look at something similar that goes with your travertine. I am also using a glass mosaic from Oceanside Glass Tile that has white, silver/gray and a beige/gray. I think the Berwyn will be way too busy with your travertine. Do any driving you need to do in the next few days ... babies #2 usually come sooner and arrive much more quickly ... my #2 was nearly born on the highway, just made it to the hospital, checked in at 5:20pm and he was born at 5:35pm. Good luck with the bathroom and the baby! :-)...See MoreTile work AM I BEING TOO PICKY?!?!
Comments (47)as long as you haven't picked marble for around the toilet, or in their shower, you're fine. make it porcelain or glass. I have a boy and he can do a number on that bathroom. I have porcelain tile on the floor and glass tiles on the tub surround. You want something easy to clean disinfect for the floor,,especially around the toilet. because lets face it, teenage boys don't care about mess when they urinate! a marble floor would be an etched nightmare with males. (you may want to inform your husband for your own floor and tile!) as for white grout,,,I'd do gray in a shower. and I'd make sure to do the stain proof grout everywhere. Comments (29)The whole idea is to give the illusion that your counters were carved in one giant piece out of one giant slab, therefore, what your fabricator proposed initially is ideal. As for this: “Once he was on site, the fabricator seemed to agree with me and suggested the European curved seam at that point,” I think he was simply trying to appease you. ;) Beautiful kitchen, btw!...See MoreK A
