Is there a reason you are not mounting the tv directly on the wall? in doing so you can get rid of the console altogether. At its current width it seems too wide for that space already. A wall mounted narrow shelf under the tv would accomodate wjat looks like a soundbar. I can’t tell what the other component is but it may be able to sit on a shelf of your built in with the cords hidden in the walls.

I think it looks fine. I do usually prefer a console be wider than the TV, but I think 60” would be too large there (butting up to your shelves).

60” would fit with about 9” clearance on either side.

It may look suboptimal to have the console only 9" from the bookcase. Is i heretical to suggest a smaller TV? Are you that far from it?

Oh, for Pete’s sake, thank you SueB—- I thought the tv was sitting on the console and that was its raison d’être. My solution would be the same but even easier, to remove the console and mount a shelf under the tv for the soundbar.

So, the TV isn’t going anywhere. Let’s just say this is one of the few ”decorating” decisions DH was involved in.

No. I need something to hide cords. I know some TV setups can hide all the cords, etc., but that is not an option here. There is a pocket door behind this wall so we are limited.

I’m glad at least a couple people think the console is an ok width. That was really my only question. I can’t decide if I just need to get used to it after having a bulkier tv stand.

If the console is non negotiable I would not replacenit with something bigger. I hear you about the decorating decision making. You are gracious to share it.

Mtn, it appealed to me because it can masquerade as art. And it was time to upgrade to a smart tv so we can get rid of cable. We had planned to get the tv last Christmas, but unlike decor decisions and projects, we move slowly when it comes to techy stuff!

This is the only tv in a common area in our house, and literally the only wall it could go on. DH can’t possibly be expected to watch his Celtics on a 32” screen, can he? Insert eye roll.

Oh, I am envious! And I happen to be one who likes a tv "as big as you can reasonably go".. but I don't like to SEE a tv in a room when not watching. This is the perfect solution!

I think the tv looks great and the console is fine as is-- I think bigger might look awkward on the wall, so close to the bookshelves.

Unless you really love it there I’d remove the small artwork above your tv screen because I think its size makes the tv look huge in comparison. You would probably not hang two pieces of art of such disparate sizes in that way anyway.

I think it looks great, Sue! And you're going to love having the ability to change up the artwork. One of my sons has one, and it's always fun to see what's on there when I go over.

Yes, I know, what I am asking why you chose that particular one? I've been thinking about them for a while but like most of these things, they make them better after the first rush to come to market. I think Samsung has more than one model of Frame TV?

It seems too low to me to double as art work - if that makes sense.

I would move it up so that the center point is at eye level.

I have already changed the art about 5 times.

“LG has a similar product” I just checked our remote. It’s an LG. there is no frame but you can see that they “framed” each picture. IRL the frames look 3 dimensional. We never use the picture mode. There is also the option of using your own photos and putting up a slide show. We never use that mode either unless we’re looking at vacay photos.

DH and I had great fun the first time we sat down to go through all the offerings and select our favorites. Reading about each work was interesting and inspired us both to look up more about certain periods in an artist’s life. We agreed on far more favorites than we disagreed on, to my complete surprise.

Keep track of that remote, it’s very expensive and cannot be replaced with a universal. You can download an app (samsung smart things) that turns your iphone into a controller of sorts but it is a clumsy substitute.

I think the width of the current console looks fine, a wider one might crowd that corner. Do you have time to think about it before the return window closes? It might just take some time getting used to.

I really like it this size! It's pretty cool to be able to change out the artwork and not spend a dime! There's no down side to this TV....L O V E IT!

This is an ingenious idea for those who want to ”disguise” their TV - kind of like an integrated, cabinet panel fridge - and so much better than a big cabinet.

There are more substantial frames for the Samsung available at decotvframes.com The corners click together easily around the tv with magnets at the corners. They have every style from distressed barn wood to ornate, 24 kt gold leaf frames and everything in between.

I think the width of the console is fine, and I'd consider adding more artwork above the TV to create more of a gallery wall. Then again, I'm notorious for some pretty weird art placement, so I may be totally out in left field.

Love the tv. If the console is any wider it will look too large for the space I think. I've wanted one of these, now I really want it.

Arapaho, as someone mentioned above, the quality of the TV image is compromised somewhat in order to create the matte-like effect for when it is in "artwork mode." We were told that the latest "model" Samsung Frame (year, really) is an improvement over the 2021 and earlier versions in this regard. We were also told a new model is coming out in 2023? I didn't ask when. As with flat screens generally, each generation costs less and has improved performance. With tech I always feel it's just about when you want to jump in! They are having big sales now, but you know how that goes.

The competing frame products, we were told, have better pics but are less realistic as art, and cost significantly more than the Samsung Frame (75% more for one model we looked at). And if you have wondered why you can't do this on any old monitor, it is because, as you many know, it will "burn" the image on to the monitor if left with one image for an extended period.

DH grew up with no TV in the living room so we adhere to that philosophy. We’ve always had a home with two living areas so the main level LR has no TV and the walkout level has one. We like to watch at eye level when sitting and we like art work at eye level when standing so a TV that doubles as art doesn’t appeal to us. Plus DH wouldn’t be willing to compromise on video qualiy to disguise the TV. It is a great concept for those who find it to be a good fit.

We’ve looked at Frame TV sets and decided to wait a little longer. While I don’t want to look at a black rectange DH is less concerned and neither of us want to compromise the image quality. Luckily our floor plan allows us to put the tv on a side wall in the family room which leaves the fireplace with artwork above as the focal point. The tv is at optimal viewing height and doesn't dominate the room.

The tv in our bedroom is mounted on a flexible mount inside DH's closet and the doors can be closed.

But it’s great with new TV’s you are not tied to where the cable box is located since it’s all wifi now.

Learned something new today -- frame TV. Didn't know such a thing existed.
