Design Dilemma Home Decorating

what to do with this wall?

Hello everyone,
I’m not quite sure how to decorate or design this very large wall right at the entryway of our house. I suppose it would technically be considered the are for the formal living room, but we don’t want that.
Imagine the box and keyboard etc not being there!
I’m debating a decorative photo wall, art, other wall decor. Maybe a bench or entry sofa. We like the open space for the kids to run around but the area is so bare right now.

I'd get a quilt to hang on the wall. You can get them traditional or contemporary. It will fill a lot of space and decrease echoes, which I bet you have. Then, a console table underneath. Maje it long, to not be dwarfed by the space.

nice room. can you shoot a pic straight at the media wall while standing behind that sofa? It's easier to photoshop some ideas. I like this one to play off the dark brick, but the warmer walnut consoles would also work. Mount your tv to the wall after selecting a console. you like this look? you could do a photo gallery of some type since you have that tall wall. I also like the idea of bringing in a cool chandelier for the middle of the room I like the ideas given to you about the wall behind the sofa. you need larger art. those small shelves get lost. for the piano, look up ideas on how to decorate above a piano.

Older post - @blossom37 - what color paint did you use for your staircase remodel? I read a post where you commented about paint colors for someone (I think they were looking at Repose Gray and Agreeable Gray maybe) - and said something about how your painter accidentally tinted the primer for your staircase remodel Revere Pewter - did you just decide to paint the staircase Revere Pewter? Did you use the same color on the walls in this room? also - did you stain or paint the handrail black? Your remodel looks nice- I‘ve decided to keep my existing handrail and balusters (which are the same as yours) for right now due to all of the issues I’ve had renovating my home. I decided to get everything else finished - and then come back to the handrail/newell posts/balusters. The way yours was updated looks nice - I’d like to copy some of it until I fully renovate it later! My balusters are attached directly to my treads - and I’m still deciding on whether to have the treads match the handrail or the balusters/risers for now. I will have a runner installed until the major renovation happens. Thanks!

IMO TP is never a decor item so remove that little shelf thing and hang some art there . As for a mirror I do not think 2 is the answer.I would do a corner medicine cabinet this one is from Amazon that is it for that spotit has a mirror and wpould look right above the sink. I never undestand the need for a shower when there are no bedrooms nearby so when the time comes to redo this bathroom I would eliminate the shower

I see two walls..there is a portion of another wall to the left of the photo. What is on that wall? Whatever you put on the big wall should go with that, or the decor on any other walls in the room and staircase.

I think this is an entry so treat it as such a nice bench and a huge piece of art will be the showstopper when you enter . I really sidlike gallery walls and for sure ones that feature family photos . I really nice rug will help with the echo I see no coat closet so maybe think about that too.

Put there a DIY climbing wall =) Fun thing aside, quilt idea is nice. Big room needs biig pieces of artm furniture etc. Also you can consider splitting the big empty wall in two parts with color.

Definitely add a little entry “moment” to the area. With a mirror, console, and some decorative items such as plants, candles, books, photos …
On the wall I’d personally probably do a bigger more grandiose crown molding. And base boards and then do a large painting or take a cool photo shoot of the fam jam.
I also think adding a large light to the space will add a lot!

I like Patricia Colwell Consulting’s idea of a bench and very large art.

You'll need sound absorption for sure. I would start with a large rug under a round foyer table in the center. Then use a pair of upholstered benches or settees on each wall. If it is still too noisy for simple art, consider framed tapestries above each upholstered seat.
