Side splash solutions?

Our kids/guest bathroom has a vanity that sits against one wall. We have had water drip down the wall on the side that is open to the room on more than one occasion from kids either turning off faucet with hands that are way too wet, or from them just messing around in the sink. This past time, there was so much water that the paint bubbled by the baseboard. We want/need a side splash or some other solution, but I cannot find answers on whether they can be installed on a vanity top that it not against a wall.

I don't think there is a permanent solution. Best bet is to keep a towel or similar item across that edge and keep reminding the kids to be neat. Remove it when there's company. Eventually the kids will be neater (more from age than the nagging, in my experience).

A different faucet might help and is easy to do.

If you're up for replacing the vanity top, you can have a raised edge around it as well as getting a better sink with a recessed faucet deck.

No side splashes needed on either side. The faucet will be far enough from the walls, so it should not be a problem.

I would only do the subway tile on the back, I would not put a back splash on the side walls ... it will make it look too closed in, you want your eye to only go to the back wall for depth. And because your counter tops are so dark, I would not use the small 4" granite back splash anywhere. I would only put the dark granite on the horizontal surfaces and then tile all the way down to them.

I definitely do not want to mess with the grading at all. Not my plan. However, I have such a tiny yard that I’d rather this not look like a complete eye sore. I do use the gate often because the water spigot is on the other side of the gate. That’s why I would like a little path instead of some sorts. Grass clearly is not an option, and I have always envisioned rock, mulch, ground covering with some ferns and hostas.

We had a very similar situation when we first built our house. We have a treed lot so nothing grew well along one side of the house. After about 10 years we added a decorative stream and pond. We have ADORED it from the very first moment. It has been there over 20 years. Our bedroom is on that side of the house so we listen to the flowing water every night! Many trees have been removed now due to diseases. I will try to post a picture of it.
