Comments (27)Grant, it's almost "as easy as falling off a log"! I invited a friend to take some cuttings and I don't really remember when he took the shoots, but they all did well. He took one to TX and reported that it had grown to bush size in just a few months. Most of the sites I visited recommended taking cuttings in February or March. Honestly, here, I think anytime during the winter would be OK since we barely have any winter. On another note, I can't prove it, but I suspect my souring problem is exacerbated by having irrigation and an overgrown tree. I'm going to take a cutting myself and pot it up on the dry side of the yard just to see if it makes a difference. Meantime, if someone has another variety they'd be willing to share a cutting of later this year, let me know. Comments (9)So far, with limited experience - For Production, the Brown Turkey that I bought last year. It was very productive at a small size. For Taste, I think that the Petite Negra was better than Brown Turkey. This year it has lots of brebas, so may pass the Brown Turkey in production if conditions are right. For Memory, some figs that I ate in Italy 2 years ago were better than any local figs (at the same time, also the best grapes that I ever ate). The jury is still out on my maybe-Brunswick - last year the figs were larger than Petite Negra and tasted better than Brown Turkey, but it's too early to judge production (2 year old tree). Also for my Lattarula, which is in its 3rd year without figs, but some fresh figs that I bought locally were very very sweet & might have been Lattarula. If I could only have one fig tree, I would try to graft several varieties onto the same tree....See MoreFig ID / Colasanti Farms White Fig Tree?
Comments (3)I purchased the same fig from longwood gardens near philadelphia. So I believe I have the same fig. I asked them what it was at the gift shop, and they don't know what color it was. here's a previous post on the same subject. Comments (4)I totally agree. I've purchased several trees from Bass over the past 6 months. I gave him my number and he called me and talked about my order and other trees he has. My trees always arrive safe and intact. He is a very nice man and highly recommended. Dennis aka snaglpus...See MoreBluemoonlight
