Your Favorite Picture-Fig Plants & Figs Only
Comments (21)Hi Sal, those figs did not ripen . This plant overall is somewhat of slow grower for me and wants to grow like a bush but i wont let it. It has only the two side branches as i kept the others pruned off and left figs on to get an idea of what they looked like somewhat i was curious.Hopefully this season i get to taste a few figs. One of the branches will be air layered for a member that asked last season and if that person reads this please email me. The other has to stay for now. This is my second favorite plant to look at and shape . Only a few plants now i can let grow decent size because of limited storage space this one will be one of the bigger ones if the figs taste good to me. One day its my hope to be live in a climate where most my plants will be inground and not so darn constrained in a pot. Best Health Martin...See MoreFavorite figs for drying
Comments (18)Hate to rain on your parade, by my love for figs starts with the fresh in the morning right off the tree. Second choice is the ones I froze from last year's crop, thawed of course. Third is the dried Turkish imports. They just have a passion for doing it right. The cooked and frozen ones are far superior to dried, but that of course is a personal biased opinion. Don't get me wrong I put away (eaten) more than my share of dried figs, actually they kinda fill the quick energy spike when I'm too lazy to thaw out a package of frozen ones. Ever since we discovered the freezing method we have never thrown a fig away, anything we can't eat is cooked up and frozen that same day. Even bought an extra freezer just for figs and other good things like frozen cooked whole tomatoes and frozen cooked cardoons. As for the best variety, whatever tastes good fresh will be better frozen and thawed to eat, or just on top of some vanilla ice cream. Filipo...See MoreLOOKING for: Sea Bass
