Hello Blodelle, This project (posted to another thread here at GW also) was the Rondine Evolution "Calacatta Gold". The client originally wanted to use natural stone but this residential spa included an immersion therapy tank and the high humidity and salt exposure would have caused rusting or worse. I really enjoyed working with the material. The joints for this wall were 1/32" thick and I had no problems with sizing. I was also impressed by the pattern distribution with this porcelain tile. I opened 14 cases of tile and I believe I only found a handful of duplicate tiles. My only complaint about the tile is that there are no coordinating trim pieces for it. I could have used a very narrow porcelain pencil liner or a Schluter JOLLY profile to trim out the exposed edges but the client preferred to have me profile and polish the edges instead. The pattern does not continue through the body of the tile but the body is white and it ended up being inconspicuous. Shaughnn

My daughter used 12x24 porcelain Carrara tiles on her walls and 24x24 on the floors. She opted for a stacked pattern on both. Her tiler did a great job of matching up the veins in the tiles so that they appear to flow effortlessly across the walls and floor. I have seen quite a few bathroom pictures with marble/marble look tiles were no effort was made to match the veins. IMO they look rather frenzied and haphazard. I may be wrong but it seems to me that it might be easier to make the veins match up with a stacked pattern. You might want to try laying out some of your tiles on a floor. Check the builderdepot.com and dekotile.com. I remember ordering samples from at least one of them and I think they were 2x4. I can't remember if they were polished or honed. I have Calacatta counters and thought of doing the Calacatta backsplash, but ended up with yellow ceramic tile. Somehow, the marble tile almost detracted from the beauty of the countertops.

Oh my! I had to rip out a Crema Marfil 24 x 24 squares in my bathroom due to a piping project in my highrise condo and it's making me sick. I had it for 30 years and it looked like brand new! Tiles were 90 % broken even though they were 3/4 inch thick. Why don't you like marble for walls?
