Nice house and YouTube channel

Linda Vater is a popular gardener here in OK, & has a Tudor style house in a historic neighborhood in OKC. You can see the address if you watch closely.

After watching many of her videos I just discovered why I like the downstairs so much. All the rooms are small which means you can decorate a lot more. Both of us have the same size DR table. No longer do I have to hang my head down. :)

What a cozy place. Those of you with shutters like hers will chuckle thinking what a hassle it had to be to remove everything (plants!) in front of them for light.

Love her remark about clean windows. Tell me about it!

Easy to FF through a lot of her rambling. I wasn't fond of the pictures but the colors are nice.

Very nice, Publickman! And inspiring! But most of my tillandisas spend the late Spring through the summer in my north-facing porch. The sun is bright at this altitude (around 5,000 feet here in the Rio Grande Valley). But they'll all be coming in to roost under grow lights or in a shaded, south-facing window as soon as the nights cool down consistently into the 50s (and the nights will get colder after that). We do get below freezing frequently, with wind and sometimes snow, too, so none of the plants would survive that.

Just saw the final episode. Don't like the sectional and the TV over the fireplace in the LR (they have a study - would have put the TV there). The most off putting thing is the huge barn door between the hall and the DR. It's less open concept than I expected. Think the screen pocket doors to the pantry were trying too hard for " old" looking. A bit too much industrial combined with farmhouse. All in all, it's not nearly as bad as most HGTV shows, but I would have stuck with the timeless and traditional. They did admit they had run out of money when it came to the master closet. Nice to see what anyone who has ever gone remodeling or a new build, has experienced! They got very carried away with the lasted technology for well and HVAC etc - hate to think what that cost. Not much landscaping but a fortune in sod. For a house that was quicker to assemble, it took a LONG time to complete.

Would you explain what you meant by this comment? Did she do something wrong? ”I'd never let her within a mile of any horse of mine.” I realize nobody can do everything, but someone should have pointed out that a horse's mouth is just about as sensitive as yours and the way she hauls on it like it's a runaway truck just makes me wince in sympathy. The most overworked old cart horse would feel that. (Also, wrapping reins around your wrists endangers you, if you should fall.) There are a lot of silly comments on an earlier video about how she pushes away one of the puppies that tries to climb on her lap when she's cleaning something or paring something, but clearly she doesn't mistreat the dogs because they still want to be all over her whenever they can, and they follow her all over. So I don't think she's cruel; I just think someone should have explained a few things before letting her borrow the horse. Maybe given her a half- hour riding lesson. The idea is lovely, though. ETA I don't mind her bouncing around like anyone who hasn't done this much; I just mind that her handling of the reins was obviously quite painful to the horse.

Then... don't buy from them? Buy no plants that are sold online, that's the solution! Ask where your local nursery gets their plants, so you can boycott them, too. Plants brought by humans into my area, so those humans feel more "at home", are often not right for the local environment. Occasionally the plants escape and thrive, becoming weeds in effect, but mostly they just demand more water and care than the original planter realized. Green lawns are not normal in the high desert!

She's new to me but I'm very intrigued! The house is beautiful, so real and personal and obviously put together by someone with a great eye. Have to find out about her garden next. She's interesting and a great story teller. Thanks for sharing!

One thing that stood out to me was that she replaced glass panes in interior door and cabinet with beveled glass. The beveled glass made a big difference. Her style is so polished. It was a joy to listen to her, too.

Look at Linda's front yard I think she does most of the work herself and probably hires out at times.

Zalco, I love how she's gaining new followers on Youtube because she's so talented and takes the time to teach us.

Love the house but I was distracted by her cup. Why did she have that in her hand the entire time? And I would have worn shoes, just sayin.

The arrangement of furniture in the living room is interesting. Very cozy and casual and I LOVE those bookshelves.

I like the house but found the homeowner completely boring. . I find it very odd that she doesn’t know how to pronounce taupe and that she calls the gas fire a “little antique furnace.” She dosen’t seem to have done much reading.

It was more interesting for me to watch with no sound but agree about the distracting cup, Since the camera is mostly on her it looks like she’s selling coffee mugs when the audio is off.

I finally watched part of the video. TBH I am not much for youtube/videos. The house is lovely but a bit more "stuff" than I would like. I found her voice pleasant but I do agree the cup was a bit distracting. Not wearing shoes didn't bother me a bit, as I never have shoes on in the house. It just made her comfortable to me. Yes, cozy and casual, which is what I like.

Two things stood out for me - I have a wicker chair in the basement that came from my dad's family. It probably needs to be painted (which is fine as the dark green really doesn't go in our home), but honestly, I can't think of anywhere I can use it! I need to find a place. I have very little from my dad's family. The other item is the mantel clock, which I also have, and is also from my dad's family! I can't find it!!! I had it in a closet and several months ago noticed it wasn't there. I've obviously stored it somewhere. I have a cedar chest and a leather trunk that I need to see if it might be there. I should be using it.

I thought she said "Sherman Williams" at first too, but then later she did say "Sherwin Williams" which was correct. So, she knew the correct way, guess she just messed up the first time. The horror! She spoke much better than most videos I've seen on here. Not that I care really, as I find interesting and informative better than boring and perfect on decorating/home videos. I found her pretty interesting, even though not so fond of the house furnishings, but I liked the bones of the house-especially the thick walls and I thought she was lovely. Kinda cute with her socks and not so much the cup in hand. She's attractive and looks cute and spunky for her age-very cute hair cut too.
