Comments (2)You can adjust the pop-up drain under the sink (behind the drain) where it attaches to the down rod. It usually has a set screw, or a spring clamp that let's you switch holes in the downrod. Some of the cheaper big box brands (such as one that rhymes with "shampton bray") may not adjust very well, esp. if they're lightweight and have a rubber gasket. A last resort is to replace the pop-up assembly with a better/heavier one....See Moresmell from bathroom sink drain.
Comments (3)When you catch a whiff, I'd take the trap apart and see if there is any water in it. I suspect the trap is dry and you are smelling sewer gas. Realistically, unless your directional sense of smell isn't very good, it really can't be anything else. If the trap is dry, your vent is probably plugged and another fixture is siphoning the trap. Comments (4)By any chance are you talking about the rod that controls the pop-up drain? If so, it's fairly simple to replace the rod/knob combo from another kit (you'd have to buy another pop-up drain, or just "borrow" it from a used kit). The rods come in different thicknesses, so just be aware of that and try to find the same thickness rod (it's not essential, but avoids a very loose rod and makes it easier to attach to the arm that operates the drain without it sliding off....See MoreDuravit Fogo / Vero Hack?
Comments (4)It's hard to answer because strangely Duravit doesn't show the crucial front-to-back depth dimension on their drawing. I'm about to do the opposite - I have a 24"w Vero sink I picked up cheap on Craigslist that's used but in great condition, and am planning to place it atop a wall-mounted Ikea Godmorgan cabinet (probably also the wood color) - the Duravit sink is about the same size (and not all that different in appearance) to Ikea's own Odensvik sinks (the 47-1/4" version shown below, which would be a low-cost ($130) alternative to the Vero top). I used the Godmorgan/Odensvik combo in the 47-1/4" width in another bathroom and am very impressed with both pieces. I used a nice waterfall faucet on that one, and nearly everyone who's seen the renovated bathroom thinks they're expensive high-end fixtures. I will have to find a way to obtain the unique Ikea drain plumbing to route the drain behind the drawers though, which Ikea includes with their sinktops and doesn't sell separately. Anyway, I don't see anything obvious about the Duravit cabinet that would stop any flat-edged top of the right dimensions from being used with it....See Moreohdonnaf
