I am also having TCE 4005 Quartz installed on my kitchen countertops. I currently have white melamine cabinets. Should I get these restained in a paint that will go better with this countertop, and if so what shade of paint should I go with? I would imagine there is white shade that would go perfectly with this. Anyone know? Also what kind of backsplash would complement this? Thanks!

Yes you're right! So I had the old Carrara marmi and they were getting a new lot in June that would be whiter so I think that ended up being the difference. They said the company switched manufacturers and the whole lot they had received was the off white tone of marmi. It's identical to the first picture! I had no idea there was a new vs old. Luckily they were very helpful and are allowing me to pick out any quartz from the show room and replace it for $300 whichever I choose. I could have gotten the new marmi but I would have to wait until June when it comes in. This felt like a great option to me though as the higher up quartz was not really in my price range at all. So I am happy with that and I got to look through many different styles of white quartz slabs in the warehouse and bring a few home to decide. They are going to replace the whole thing. Now I just have to choose between Cararra Morro and Calacutta Clara!

Thank you. I will consider the under cabinets and taj mahal quartz. The thought was I could re-design the interior of cabinets by inserting customize storage needs DIY; the shells are fine; not luxury but they are capable of holding things, though space is admittedly lost in two corners. They may appear they are ready to collapse but they are hung rock steady-- a couple doors could be made straight. The kitchen floor will be leveled in next 4 weeks so that could address some crookedness in bottom cabinets-- the floor drops 2 inches-- in a 12 ft. run from stove to dishwasher corner but the countertop isn't crooked... level within 1/10 inch on the whole "L" shape. I have lots of chunks of $10K going out in other parts of the house so cabinets ranked low.. whereas a sink that I found functional with a non-spliced countertop and backsplash, safe and plentiful electrical outlets --those items ranked high--things one needs to really cook. I guess we all have our value system based on how we live.

They were trying to treat it like quartz, where the pattern goes all the way through, rather than porcelain, where the pattern is only printed on the top surface. The rounded over edges were to keep them from being chipped or from being a sharp cut you open hazard. That rounding was a good thing, and entirely commendable and logical, IF the material had a pattern all the way through. The trouble comes in via the fact that the pattern is only printed on the surface. Maybe their distributor touted this new stone without telling them that. Or the right person wasn’t there when the distributors salesperson called. Or they just didn’t listen, or read the specs. Why it ended up that way is unimportant, except to them. That’s their business issue to solve. How they are going to learn from this mistake, and handle this mistake is the issue that affects you. They know it is not an acceptable result, so give them a graceful out with a blame target. ”Im sorry your distributor didn't tell you the pattern was on the surface only. New materials always have a learning curve. For everyone involved. You would not accept this result for your home, or your showroom, would you?“ Stare at them. In person. Say nothing. See what they offer. The distributor should offer to replace the slabs for you with another brand of actual quartz that they carry. Get a list of the brands they carry. They should offer to swallow the labor. It is their price for being educated about the material.
