Special Walnut (Duraseal) stain on white oak floors
Comments (21)Thank you! We used Duraseal. I wasn't informed on what sheen my builder used. It's holding up well and we really enjoy the color. We get a lot of compliments on it. It's not too dark and not too light. A great medium. If it's too dark, you will see all the dirt! Good luck!...See MoreRed Oak Floor Stain: Go Lighter! {Classic Gray & Special Walnut blend}
Comments (27)@Amy Molina thank you for advising. your color really is beautiful!!! i just selected last monday chestnut/classic. it did not appear to have any of that red orange showing through - just a nice neutral brown color. in my opinion, it is like a special walnut but greatly improved. special walnut was a yuck! color on my floor showing orange and the grains too bold. classic gray is the ticket to modernize a color if looking for a brown. its just finding the right brown that is tricky. now i am just hoping i selected a dark enough brown - yoir looks great! they come and do ours tomorrow in the official color....See MoreHelp! red oak floors pink and white oak cabinets going in

We also have a good amount of white in the kitchen....See MoreHas anyone used 50/50 minwax dark walnut + special walnut on red oak?

Another option is to use poly shade in a similar color. You can apply 2-3 coats of the poly shade to achieve your desired color. Poly shade is oil base. Contractor should have water popped the floor prior to applying the stain. The color would come out darker....See MoreJ S
