"Bunchy" Asparagus

This is a new issue. It started about a month ago. What is causing this? It is happening on new shoots and recently on branches 4 feet high.

We already answered this question for you a few weeks back. The abnormal growth is caused by asparagus aphids infecting the plants.

Sorry you are correct, I did not think that the 2 were related which was stupid on my part! Thanks!!!

Do asparagus aphids only harm plants by eating them not transmitting dieses like cucumber beetles do? I killed most of them but my asparagus bed is 5' x 5' x 5' and THICK. No way to spray everything unless I cut down at least 1/2 the ferns.

Yes, they spread disease to the plants and if the infestation gets bad enough they can kill the crowns.
