So what do I find when I check on their progress? A stinger. Which punches holes in the carpet and is explicitly prohibited by the CRI. I took a picture of it and emailed it to Lowes, and told them that the installer had violated the Mohawk warranty requirements. And hopefully didn't take chunks out of my subfloor in the process, but probably did. The installation team manager called Mohawk to confirm what I told him, and they said yes, stingers are a no go. So, I told them they are going to have to do it all over again, with new fresh materials, and do it right. more fun.

Hello out there, carpet experts. This is my first time posting. I need unbiased information. I am about to purchase a Shaw nylon carpet for 3 bedrooms of my home. I'm afraid the salesman is not being completely truthful with me so I'm doing my homework by shopping around. I'm trying to get information about Shaw's Designer Twist Platinum (T) carpet. Firstly, what does the (T) mean? On the website, there are other abbreviations with the same carpet name: (a), (t), etc. What does this mean? But mostly, I want to know if this carpet is made with Anso Nylon Caress or just Anso Nylon? Anyone out there have this in their homes? Do you like it? I also want a light beige color, Balsa. I do NOT want this to appear yellowish/gold once the entire area is down. I have a small swatch, but hard to tell. Can any knowledgable carpet people tell me more about this carpet? Face weight?

We are in the early stages of our build process too but our builder wants me to make all the decisions in the next few weeks. I still love a carpet from the SS Stone Peak range. The Carpet Court sales person told me Signature Homes use it in their show homes so on Saturday I went to visit the showhome only to find it had been sold the week before. I love the look of the Stone Peak range and that it is mottled and shows less tracking then the other ranges so I will probably go for it. Perhaps it is the best of both worlds and it does still come with a 20 year warranty.

face weight has little to do with 'wear'. Its the twist level thats important. If its a frieze style carpet it won't show any wear as your walking on the sides of the yarn vs the tips of the yarn. Base grade carpet is 26oz so 39 or 46 are substantial upgrades. Carpet is not sold by specs so if your looking for the bigger # must be better. 'Talk to an experienced carpet salesperson who can educate you a bit. If you looking at a box store your not going to get correct info.
