Gary, I just bought a leftover Broadmoor 2006 18 HP Kohler single cyl. engine 44 inch deck 1.4 hrs on the meter, about 6 weeks ago. I paid $2950.00 for it. I think it is a great machine. The broadmoor has a super nice cut. I traded in a 13 year old Simplicity Regent, 38 inch deck and never had any major problems with it, The dealer gave me $200.00 wich made the price of the Broadmoor $2750.00. You will notice a big difference between the ride and comfort factor between the Regent and the Broadmoor after you are on them for any lengthy period of time. I am 6'1" and 220 lbs and the broadmoor is a way nicer ride. You can get closer with the Brodmoors wider deck since it sticks out past the wheels, but it does not turn as tight as my old Regent. Don't worry about the three blades on the deck, once you see what a great cut you get you will be very happy. My lawn is over an acre, and has many mature pines and shade trees and many roots, and not real smooth. This machine just does not scalp anywhere, perfect cut!! I can not tell you about the other machines but can tell you I like the Broadmoor. I hope whatever you buy works good and you have good luck with it. Steve

What exactly does the "interlock module" do? I have a mid 90s Broadmoor and the last time I tried to use it just the other day, the PTO wouldn't engage. I checked out the switch and it was OK. Pulled all the modular plugs apart in the wiring harness, cleaned the contacts which were crudded up with dirt and re-connected them. Finally, with the ignition on, when I engaged the PTO switch I could hear the solenoid engage normally, but I heard a hissing sound and what smelt like burning electronics. Then I noticed smoke coming out of the interlock module, and a putrid smell like a burning selenium rectifier or carbon resistor. The book says the interlock module is "untestable". I haven't checked on the cost, but I suspect they are expensive, and I'm afraid if I just buy a replacement and stick it in, and the electrical problem is elsewhere, the new one would burn up too. I took the interlock module off and cut a hole in the case where the plastic had melted and smoke was coming out. All I could see inside was some kind of substrate and the rest of the case was full of what looked like whitish sand. I poured out all the sand, replaced the module, and re-started the tractor. It started up OK (it won't start with the module unplugged from the cable). When I turned on the PTO switch, it engaged normally, and there was no more smoke from the module. The only thing abnormal now is the PTO light gets extra bright for a split second just when I switch the PTO off; I don't remember it doing that before. Does anyone know exactly what is inside the interlock module and exactly what it's supposed to do in the circuit? The schematic just shows a rectangle with numbers on the pins. The mower seems to work OK now, but I don't want to burn something else up running it with a defective interlock module.

Broadmoor Has a K57 trans and the Snapper LT 200 has a K46 trans it basicly a Simplicity Regeant without the deck rollers in the long run the Broadmoor would probably be up to the snow removal job Bettter than the LT200. Not saying a K46 won't handle it because it will it is just nice to have that Automatic Traction Control feature in the winter time even though you'll probably have weights and chains. I own 12 machines total 3 Deere's, 5 Cub Cadet's, 1 White, 1 Ingersoll and 2 Simplicity's I just think you'll be happier with the Broadmoor over a Red colored Regeant. The current regent just at least to me doesn't measure up for your needs. Things I don't like about the Regent or it's clone is the whole hood has to be removed when servicing the engine You have to remove the light bulb from the headlights as well when removing the hood. You have a choice of 3 diffrent snow Blowers with the Broadmoor Models which are a 42inch Two stage blower or a 42inch or 46inch single stage snow thrower. The Regent or it's clones you only have the choice of a 42inch single stage snow thrower. If you don't like the baseball look you may want to see if A Snapper dealer has any Not sold LT300 or they can get a Snapper LT300 which is Basicly the Snapper version of the Broadmoor. I bet through there dealer network there are some Not sold LT300's sitting on some dealers lot. The Snapper LT125 and LT130AWS really are Mostly made from older Murray designs. So if I were you I would stay away from those models. There really designed for the Box Stores more than the dealer line. Hope this helps

I would pull the plugs and read them. spray some carb. cleaner down the spark plug holes and motor the engine over (motoring the engine would be with the spark plugs removed turn the key and let the motor free spin blowing out the carb. cleaner and anything else) If the plug were good I would clean and regap them before I installed them. If one was black sotie and you have no ignition problems as suggested above I would do compression check. If you have at least 100 psi in each cylinder I would suspect dirty carb. and fuel system. If the compression was low in one or both cylinders say 60 psi or lower then you would have to get pass that problem before continueing of course.? I would then do a fuel system clean up if the compression is A OK!. (probably needs it anyway and it don't cost you nothing but time). Fuel system clean of consists of replacing the fuel filter, inspecting and blowing out the fuel hoses (all of them including all the way to the tank), remove the gas tank clean it out with bottle brush type brush by scrubbing the bottom and sides or using a pressure washer and rinse with fresh gas, last would be removing the carb., disassemble and cleaning of all the small passages. When you inspect the fuel lines any weather cracks or dry rot I would replace them. I replace them anyway while I have it torn apart cause you really can tell the condition internally of old 10 year old fuel hoses? I have found if I do my part my vanguard will almost out live me! time will tell, I'm 58 and the vanguard is 21!?!
