Yeah, I wouldn't put too much stock into Consumer Reports. They haven't been in the testing business for a long time now. They are almost entirely an entertainment company and testing is merely done to the degree that it provides entertainment. They have been dissing higher-end brands for a long time now, as that fits the story that they want to sell. But it makes it useless if those are the brands you actually want to learn about. This happens across the board with this publication, and is not just limited to kitchen appliances.

Can't really make a lot of recommendations for dual fuel. I am pretty darn serious about cooking and baking, and I personally feel that dual fuel is seriously overrated if cooking is your hobby (or really any time). On the other hand, I do think that you can never have too many ovens; and I like having ovens with different feature sets. That's how we ended up with a big gas-powered oven in the range, a speed oven, and a combination steam oven. The latter two are electric. In a pinch, there is another oven in the in-law kitchen, and a gas BBQ that can and sometimes does become an improvised oven.

I do like the different features that I can get with all these ovens. But fuel source is never a consideration. The gas oven vents a little more rapidly which can be an issue when baking where I need high humidity during the first couple of minutes, but covering the bread addresses that problem. That's really the only time when fuel source matters a little bit, and it's easy to compensate for.

I prefer dual fuel. I have a small kitchen, so I can't do both a cooktop and a range and get all the other items I want.

While I haven't installed it yet, I purchased a Five Star 36" dual fuel range. I had one in my previous house, installed in about 1998 and it's still there and works well. They have minimal electronics - if you want a flip down panel or a timer, this isn't the range for you.
