Another Ugly House! Suggestions on Exterior Remodel? Help!
Comments (5)I think the faux Tudor look needs to go. Maybe just paint out the wood trim boards criss-crossing your stucco if you can't remove them. I would go for a sage green top and either a bright green front door or some other light and bright color. Add a light to the front door area so the door is visible. I can't see your walkway to the front door. I assume you have one. If you don't or if the walkway is thin/skinny, replace with a nice wide walkway at least 42-48 inches wide. Have a nice large (deep) planting bed all along the walkway. Something like this pic below. In fact, have a professional landscaping plan put together by a landscape designer - not the guys that maintain lawns, but someone that is a landscape designer by profession. An amazing amount of curb appeal comes from good landscaping. A good landscape designer also designs hardscape. Landscaping is the finishing touch for your home....See MoreCurb appeal. Comments (4)I actually think the current roof colour looks fine as is but black also good. I find sometimes the black windows particularly if they have cross pieces look like lego windows and draw the eye to the window frame when it's in large contrast to the colour of the side of the house (though you have shutters). I don't really think window frames are that interesting so I don't like them as focal points so I would think twice about black. It's quite an attractive house and you get in some plants it will really help. I think in terms of curb appeal one of the big issues is the hard to locate front door. I think a bigger landing would help perhaps something that would result in a large landing when you come out door into the yard and then wraps somewhat to the left [in picture] of the door. Or perhaps a portico or your porch may do this too depending on what you were envisioning. Where were you thinking of putting the porch? Some pics to show you what I mean (but I'm not suggesting the walk way materials shown in the photos)...See Moreexterior remodel help

Comments (10)Not black--that's too dark and too harsh. When I look at this house, the first thing I see is the garage doors and then the light colored siding between the windows. The front door is invisible. I would pick a medium dark color from the bricks (or possibly a warm charcoal gray if you want a more "modern" color), and paint the garage doors, siding, and trim with that. Then I would pick a light, bright color for the front door. Then I would invest in landscaping, which you desperately need....See Morehousegal200
