Questions about Miele Dishwasher
Comments (3)I have the Miele Diamante G2143SC, which has the control panel on the front. The one your looking at G2183SCSF has the hidden controls on the top. Difference is the G2143 has the LED display on the front where you can set a delay start, and there is also a "Turbo" function that can reduce was time by 15-25 percent. The G2183 does not have the delay start or Turbo. The next model down G2181SCSF loses the China/Chrystal mode and the water softener. Since you have a whole-home water softener, as long as it's properly set, you don't need the use of the one on the dishwasher. But since I don't have a whole-home unit, I do use the built-in water softener on the Diamante and have it set to 6 grains. My unit was also connected to the hot water, since that is where the existing dishwasher hookup was. I asked Miele directly about this beforehand, and was told that you can hook it up to either, but said that there is no issue with connecting it to the hot water. So when it was installed, that's how it was done. There was no "cold water hookup" mode mentioned anywhere in the installation sheet or manual. It does not waste water as deeageaux stated. If fills from the hot water line and starts the cycle. All the cycles run fine. Maybe this was an issue on older units? Here's a copy/paste from the manual: The dishwasher can heat its own water to the temperature required by the wash program. This allows for connection of the machine to either a hot or cold water source. For lowest energy consumption connect the dishwasher to a cold water source. For fastest possible wash times, with slightly higher energy consumption, connect the dishwasher to a hot water source. All programs use hot water in the rinse cycles. The inlet hose is approximately 5 ft. (1.5m) long. A 5 ft. (1.5m) drain extension is available from Miele. The water inlet hose comes equipped with a 3/4" female hose thread connector. This can be directly connected to a water supply with 3/4" MHT (male hose thread ends). Water pressure: Must be between 4.5 - 145 psi (0.3 - 10 bar)....See MoreHelp, Miele dishwasher buyers remorse.
Comments (14)From what I understand, the Kitchen Aid's can not be flush with your cabinetry because the vent is on the side of the door, and the steam can ruin your cabinetry. My old KA has the vent on the top, but no more. Also, if wanting it fully integrated I had to have my handyman chisel out the studs behind the DW. The KA is 2 inches deeper than the Bosch or Miele which is why it holds more, but can not be fully integrated with your cabinetry....See MoreDishwasher help! don’t get Cove? Miele? Thermador? etc?
Comments (6)@JW Cee - I would contact Bosch and see who they recommend. I would google those and look for reviews. I would also google Bosch Appliance REpair near me. Sounds like a water leakage issue that may or may not be a big deal. The fact it would not start after you drained it is odd. I have no knowledge of that system. My daulghter also has a Bosch fridge. She called Basch while under warranty to report a cosmetic issue with the handle - Bosch send their rep to replace that item - took a few months for a new handle to arrive. She also thought she had a big issue when her Bosch fridge had no power one morning. Bosch pointed her to an independent repair person who could come out quickly. They were fine. Turns out her fridge’s power cord plugs both into an outlet and the BACK of the fridge. The cord in the back of the frridge came loose (was paobably not fully pugged in when it was delivered) - no where in the user manual is this stated nor did the Bosch rep suggest she check that. The repair person had never seen that before. The fridge was too heavy for her to move on her own. Easy problem solved - under warranty except for the food she lost....See MoreBosch 800 vs Miele G7156 dishwasher
Comments (32)Just thought I’d share my thoughts after the first couple of uses of the Miele G7156 starting with the bad: - the bar handle is seriously ugly. We needed a bar handle since it’s the only spot to hang a towel by the kitchen sink, but man whoever designed this should be banned from designing anything ever again. Even my husband who never notices anything commented on it! - why on earth is the indicator light under the counter where it’s impossible to see vs shining on the floor like Bosch? - installation even with “certified in-house installers” was… interesting. They wanted to cap my dedicated dishwasher line and stick it behind the wall and plug the machine into an existing shared circuit outlet with my garbage disposal - good thing I overheard that conversation. So then they added an external outlet with no conduit covering the wire going into it. 🤦♀️ Now the good: - I much prefer the inside layout of the Miele - it feels like we can fit 30-40% more in this machine vs our old one - the bottom rack wine glass holder is amazing for our tall red wine glasses! - cleaning has been fantastic even without salt (shipping delayed) and using a half tab of Ecover detergent vs whole tab in the Bosch. - plastic comes out MUCH dryer than in our old DW - we don’t have to pour water out of the rim of Pyrex lids anymore! - the three spray arms seem like a serious improvement over the Bosch setup with two arms and small sprayer on top. We had some issues with top rack items getting clean if there were any large bowls or pans in the bottom (pressure from the top arm wasn’t enough to get things clean on its own), but that might have been an age issue....See More2rickies
