miele la perla vs bosche 800 plus series
Comments (8)We are extremely please with our Bosch 800 Plus SHE68E15UC dishwasher which was installed in October 2009. We continue to enjoy cleaner than ever dishes and sparkling glassware. We use about a tablespoon of Trader Joe's dish washing detergent, plus Jet Dry in the rinse aid dispenser. Our water is very hard so the water softener is a great feature. The Bosch requires that you select the level of softening (0 - 7, I think), whereas the Miele apparently does this automatically (can someone confirm this?). We like the cutlery tray. Some people do not like cutlery trays at all, regardless of brand, because they feel it takes extra time to load...even though they also find that unloading can be quicker. The Bosch comes with a cutlery basket, too, that can be used on the lower rack. Miele has some additional baskets/locations to load utensils, too. As far as noise is concerned...I simply do hear the Bosch at all. We've clean the multi-stage microfine filter once in 3 months. We just rinsed it off under the tap...a 30 second job. See a link below for my early posting on my experiences after the installation. Regardless of which dishwasher you end up with, the salt for the water softener can be from Miele (their Somat brand) at about $10 per 2.6 lb box, or Morton's System Saver® II Formula Pellets at about $6 per 40 lb bag, or Cargill's Diamond Crystal® Pellets with Softener Care Formula at about $7 for a 40 lb bag. Comments (12)You'll be happy with the bosch. Just register your miele online and you'll be fine as long as you buy it from an authorized dealer. I think they really are trying to curtail grey market sales more than they are trying to extort install. The tracking is done by serial #, and as long as that matches a unit sold through one of their retailers within a certain timeframe the truck will roll. Say you live in a remote area that has no authorized installers ? Then what ? Think Miele would rather sell you a DW from an online retailer like AJ Madison and have them deliver it to you than to have you buy a Bosch or Kitchenaid ? They aren't going to require you to fly in an installer for a warranty !...See MoreNeed new dishwasher - Bosch 800 series vs Kitchenaid vs Miele?
Comments (28)Most or all miele dealers carry no inventory ! So, being saddled with a non seller isn't really plausible. Mom , it's very surprising that your DISHES weren't dry if you used rinse aid. Things like tupperware lids, sippycup tops, and other plastic items with channels that collect water and have no mass - yes. But those things are often wet out of heated dry makes too. My MIL had a GE with a huge element in the bottom and all the grandkid's stuff was wet after a cycle in that too. Yes, Bosch has cheaper models, but feature for feature (which is hard to align) they are pretty much the same price. Now, factor in that Miele makes all of their units in Germany with astronomical wage scales, ships them here, and pays duty on them, makes me wonder if the Bosch stuff made in rural NC is a tad over priced in comparison ? Still fine machines - and yes, I have a couple of them as well as Mieles....See MoreISO Dishwasher Feedback: Bosch vs KA vs Miele
Comments (10)I had a KA that I liked a lot new, but it got louder in the relatively short time we had it (a year?). Had another older one here when we moved in -- hated it. Replaced with Thermador (Bosch) when we reno'd the kitchen (it had been locked in place by a tile counter). We also added a 2nd DW, so I've had two of them and been very happy with them. I looked at Miele but liked the racking in Thermador and Bosch better for our dishes and I could get two of them for the cost of one Miele. I recently replaced one of the units (9 yrs old?) with a Bosch Benchmark. I'd been waiting for an excuse to replace that one -- we think something got sucked into the pump a long time ago, it didn't drain, but the repairman fiddled with it and got it to drain (warranty call) and it had been running very loudly ever since. I was told it was a user issue and they wouldn't replace the pump and I didn't push it. I just decided I would replace it sooner. And try one with the new third rack. I love how quiet the DW is and I love how well it cleans. Most of the time, it dries as well as the old one which is good or better than any other I've ever owned, but doesn't melt plastics, even on the bottom rack. What I'm still adjusting to is the changes in the racking -- the third rack and the difference in the tines. That happens with every new DW -- they just keep changing the layout of the racks. Sometimes it seems great and mostly I like it, but I still reserve the right to get frustrated when I have to think harder and move stuff around more than I care to. Not sure of the details of the model you are considering, but Bosch offers at least three different baskets plus the third rack. If you are used to carrying the basket with you to unload, you might care more about which basket you get more than someone who uses the third rack for flatware. We are using one half of the silverware basket most of the time for flatware and the third rack for utensils, prep bowls and smaller measuring cups. I probably need to try using only the third rack and see how that impacts loading the lower tack, but I haven't yet. I can't give you any reason not to buy the Bosch -- but do be prepared to be friestrated form time to time while you figure out the differences in how you need to use whatveer you chose....See Morerecordaras
