I'd do a few things:
- get an area rug to define the couch space
- get a round coffee table to break the angle created from the couch and loveseat
- add drapes to windows
- add a tall arched lamp in the corner between couch and loveseat

Agree with previous post except I'd put a table with a lamp between the sofa and loveseat. Big room like that will need some cozy lights!

I'm so glad you're willing to move stuff around! I think we'll get there. We might be able to use your furnishings to test an idea I have. Move the sofa back and center it between the windows. Place the TV on the wall where the loveseat and chair are. Move the chair to the right of the sofa (left of the fireplace). Place the loveseat parallel and facing to the sofa to the right of the fireplace. Your furniture might be too big for it to work, but it will provide a visual for us. I've put together a collage with furnishings that will fit your space. They may not be to your tastes, but remember - it's the dimensions that are key here. Styles and fabric choices are plentiful. Also attached is another furniture arrangement. The diagram is to scale, based on your room measurements and the upholstery pieces in the collage. Note that the two light colored chairs swivel. This arrangement will seat seven people. Depending on the ages of the children, they might be quite happy with floor pillows, ottomans and bean bags, as Laura Hill noted. For future reference, look for a sofa that is 84-86" wide and about 38" deep. For the chairs try to go 36" X 36". If you're family likes games, think about a generously sized coffee table. The one in my diagram is smaller.

You have a beautiful room with lots of potential. Depending on your budget, if possible to remove the carpet and replace with a nice wide plank wood floor. You have the option to paint the beams to match an accent colour (grey or taupe would be nice) or leave them white. Your fireplace surround looks a little odd so I would build a new mantle (see below). Cannot suggest any furniture layout without a floor plan with dimensions.

Lovely floor and furniture! I’d paint the room a very pale cream. Is the furniture a caramel color? The lavender (?) walls make it hard to be sure.

The room appears cold and hard so add warmth and softness with a rug and drapes picking up the color of your furniture. A big green plant too, like someone else mentioned. Maybe a tapestry hanging above the fireplace? We can’t see that wall so not sure.
