I get you with the tile. I chose to leave similar floor in place, since it was perfectly functional! Can you use the counter stone for the backsplash? Or a matte tile set herringbone, in a color that is far enough off white, pulled from the counter. I can see leaning into the green if you can find a subtle green tile.

For me, your floor with that counter is not a good pairing. You are replacing everything, why not the floor?

That quartzite, is modern, sleek and beautiful. I would update the flooring. The counter is modern and the cabinets are simple, I feel like the floor is not going with the style. Is that tile on all of your floors?

I know that saltillo is not easy to remove….really not easy so i would keep the floor and make sure you choose wisely in coordinating the cabinet and countertop colors first. you need to stay with warm colors. i like saltillo and think it’s a real work horse in the kitchen. But it looks like (in the photos anyway) that your choices don’t work well with the floor.

The white of the cabinets is too white to work with the floor and to me it even looks too white to go with your counter choice. I agree with @anna devane.

If you still like the floor you need to move away from white and gray. It could still be a beautiful kitchen - just a different look.

I agree that, while your countertop choice is beautiful, it does not 'go with' your flooring. If you are keeping the floors, then a very different kitchen needs to be designed, in my opinion. I love Saltillo tiles, and have them on my walkway and front porch, but my home is Spanish-inspired, with tile roof, talavera tile detailing, etc. Saltillo tiles are a more rustic look, and you are trying to pair them with shiny marble-look quartz ( a much more glitzy, glamorous look). Change the floors, or rethink your cabinet/countertop choices...I don't believe there is a backsplash choice that can successfully marry the two.

i agree with everyone above. the counter does not go with the floors. they are the focal point whether u want them to be or not. they need to be worked with, not against.

you need to rethink cab color and counters to have a cohesive look. maybe soft green cabs, matte corian white counter and a talavera tile b/s?

i would think about putting in some glass cab doors& counter depth frig to make the space feel more open/less cramped.

As others have said, your choices do not go with your current floors. A warm white cabinet might work but the current counter choice does not go well with that floor. I would revisit your choices and once cabinets, counters and appliances are in place, then choose a backsplash.

Here's two kitchens that went with light veined counters, but both have grey cabinets. Maybe an ivory or taupe would work as well?

We took out about 4000 sq.ft of saltillo tile in our previous house, on flooring, walls and counters. Yes, it is a bit noisy and dusty to remove, but well worth it.

This is my first time to post on Houzz so just now looking at responses to all the wonderful input. Thank you for all comments. The cabinet is an offwhite and this particular quartzite doesn’t read well in photos, but in person the two seemed to look good together. Will consider replacing the floor since so many of you suggested it. Will check into Fireclay tiles as well.
