what kind of furniture on patio

Hi all need some advice /ideas . In pic attached . We want to remove awning to either replace with a more modern awning (nothing heavy /not wood or steel) bc of permits here . Or not replace awning and just do a table with umbrella as an option 1 or a conversational set sofas option 2 . It’s a small space so not sure if dining table or sectional seating is better . Oh and we are replacing patio with pavers Thoughts ?

I would not replace the awning if it's in good condition. What is it made of? I would start by painting the support posts black so they visually disappear. If it can be painted, I'd also paint the yellow trim of the awning or make it a feature color that is repeated in the furnishing cushions or planters on the patio.

Umbrellas are great but it's been my experience that unless you get a pricey one ($600 + $500 for a good base) you have to replace it every year. If shade is your goal, keep the awning as is and spend more on furniture.

What is the most used function under the awning? Dining, talking with friends with a beverage at the table, or just hanging out and talking and lounging? That will determine table vs. sectional seating.

A magic eraser is the best invention since sliced bread. I'm not sure exactly what they are made of but you can spray a little of vinegar directly on them and allow it to sit for a good hour and hose them off and scrub with a magic eraser.

Rust spots on cement patio from steel patio furniture

We recently bought steel patio furniture brand new. I know the downside is it will rust vs aluminum. I didn't know that after 1 month and some rain there is rust spots all over our cement patio. Can anyone recommend what we can do to avoid this? Should I buy deck tiles, patio tiles, etc...? I would have the same issue though wouldn't I? For example when I move a chair after rain the water slowly pours out on the cement patio and leaves a rust spot that is very hard to clean.

Probably looks less sandy with rain washing the smaller grains out...but that was the sand that the local topsoil business was selling.

Depends on if you want a grill on it. Plan on a table and chairs. Round will take up the least amount of space. A good umbrella for shade. Not necessarily one that goes in the table. A seating area or two with a small table in between for drinks. Ours is 16'X16', but we have a side deck that is 6'X12' for the grill area. We have a table and 4 chairs, a large umbrella, a steamer lounge chair and side table, MY rocking chair (that everybody loves and uses!!) with a side table, and a 2 chair seating area with a side table in between. We have 2 areas of egress.....a step to the lower deck and stairs down on the opposite side. We bought really nice patio furniture back in the day and have had it for 38 years. It has been painted and restrapped a couple of times. It has moved with us from Florida to Alabama and to Indiana.

@tozmo1 the awning has a few holes we patched up with gorilla tape which helped , however it’s about 30yrs old . before we bought the house and it needs to be replaced plus we’ll also be making the patio flat with pavers to match the rest of the yard . Having this awning I realize how much I love having the comfort of shade and being able to be under the patio when it’s raining. We barbecue under this awning we’ve hung out under it in the rain so it’s definitely something that I really like to replace with something similar but more modern . We already have a quote which is reasonable for something similar but more modern for example pic below 👇
